@wixbloom thank you so much for that cleanse, my current deck came from my trash bag dad and while I did do a simple cleanse, I've been wary about using them still. . .that cleanse looks like exactly what I need, thank you :D

(now to find the time and alone-ness to do it. . .)

Usually I like breaking in a new deck by cutting the deck (pulling some parts of the deck from the center and putting them onto the sides of the deck), dealing it out into three piles and putting them back into a deck, cutting the deck again and dealing it into five piles, putting the deck together, cutting it yet again and dealing it into seven piles.

For a deck that felt unclean I'd leave it with some quartz in the bag for a while, and then continue the shuffling process to nine or eleven piles, probably. Maybe even thirteen?

If you want to do purifying, I half feel like paying attention to the moon... I don't practice at all, but the moon is powerful. Mom never sleeps well during a full moon. I think a new moon might be best for cleaning/emptying any negative influences, and a full moon to bond and charge with the deck.

If you want to remove negative energies, I've had black tourmaline recommended for absorbing negative energies. And I never underestimate the power of sea salt - get a glass of pure water and mix sea salt with it, and then hold your deck above it for quite some time. When my cousin used to purify his stones from anything they'd pick up, I'd see weird black dots swirling down the water. Super weird.

Would someone be willing to do a divinatory reading for me, or possibly two, for confirmation and advice?

It concerns a spirit, as a heads up to people who worry about drawing attention.

    @oph

So I know this was posted a day ago, but I would be willing to try? I've got a few methods available to me too.

so my friend reblogged a witch types post that had a big focus on elemental witchery and as a result, i rambled:

…It’s interesting because I think most people would class glass witchery as an earth magic (because most material-based witchery seems to be), but for me it’s definitely a fire magic. I’m a fire witch, mostly, if we’re picking out of the traditional four elements.

Glasswork is fire to me because TORCHWORK and HEAT and imo, handmade glass especially captures a lot of that energy. Glass, by itself, is kind of like quartz - you get out of it what you put into it. But it’s kind of… the quartz of fire, I guess, because that energy is what’s captured in the flame as much as it is whatever else you do with it.

Like in the same way that most witches see a difference between there being certain proclivities in crystals towards wealth or emotional stability or Pick A Quality, and crystals that are charged for those things, there’s a difference like that to me in glass? Glass that’s charged with that kind of intent while it’s in the flame carries that intent forever. Intent that’s put into the glass later can be worn away or cleansed eventually.

Glass is from volcanoes and lightning strikes and torches and kilns. Sure it might be made of earth, but to me, at least, it’s fire all the way down.

Anyone got interesting plans for the solstice? Usually i light a beeswax candle as the sun goes down and stay up with it burning until the sun comes back at dawn, and also do a massive house cleaning/magical cleanse/ward renewal thing for every room. Idk if I'll stay up all night this year cause sleep is kind of at a premium rn, but I really want to do the rest of it.

Also, anyone have advice on skeptical housemates? I don't want to have them pointing a bunch of "this is stupid and does nothing" energy at my work but they're def going to notice me painting saltwater sigils on the windows.

Gonna give the gods offerings. I should get some divination done too. Days like those are good ones to be like "Hello, Bríghid. Can you help me out with these questions?"

As far as skeptical housemates go I don't really know. With some of my family calmly talking to them was enough. Even if they don't think my thing is real and are kind of assholish about it at times usually they leave me be. Sometimes they ask me if it has something to do with my religious shit too which is neat. With my little brother he had to get really fucking sick the day after mocking the Fair Folk to shut his mouth though. Which was hilarious. Boy could not walk and was like I will never call them that again.

Gods damn right you won't, kid.

I'll also do the candle thing (or maybe an oil lamp? I only have small candles), but I'm not sure what else to do.

My Christmas present for my kismesis was a spade-shaped bottle filled with black salt.

For small candles, I figure lighting the next one before the previous one burns to a stump is enough to ensure continuity of the flame. Since I'm going to be using multiple broken taper candles I got from the thrift store for this, it's something I need to do too.

Yeah, I tried to do something else, but the sun was already setting, so I eventually decided to just light another candle with the other one's flame.

Okay, so, my parents now think I'm cursed. Well, it's not new, but they're taking it seriously now. My mother in particular thinks that she'll be the one who will "save" me by lifting the curse, and this is why I've had violent outbursts against her a few months ago, like someone fighting back during an exorcism.
The thing is, my parents were/are physically and emotionally abusive and, while they might have good intentions, I definitely don't want them to fuck around with my mind. I might have to set up some wards for me and my stuff, but I have pretty much no idea on how to do these.

Wow that sounds hells of not okay what the fuck???

What makes you think you're cursed? It might make a difference in my advice for dealing with it, how it manifests.

Yeah, I mean, I do have huge anger management issues, but that's the kind of stuff I'm, you know, getting therapy for. Also, I'd say those issues coming from my upbringing is probably something more credible than a curse.

Edit: I don't think I'm cursed, but my parents seem to think that. More precisely, they think my father was cursed to have a bad child, and me "being a piece of shit" to them (that is, pointing out that they have been abusive to me and my siblings) shows that the curse is in effect.

Christ. Would you mind if I did some simple offering stuff from here for you for protection against your parents? Because I feel like helping against such shitty parenting. Especially if they're going to mess around with anything about your mind.

That also reminds me of the family curse going over at my dad's side, so I'll have to type stuff about that up at some point.

Sure, I'll offer some spirits to Pachamama, I have to thank her for Kary's brother surviving recent infection anyways. I could also make a plant bundle and bury it for you, I'll have to think on what to do with the plants I have available, I don't really know what these herbs traditionally do, but I'm pretty sure that chives' bug repelling whatnot could be applied as a simple protection. I've been wanting to improvise knot work too. Take lots of care *offers hugs*
