Gotta be cheerful when your options are Incurable Possession or Death. And when your work for the past... eeeeeh... six? Seven? year... how many years has it been, Val? Whatever. We've been running after the bad kind of fuckups who don't learn from their mistakes and keep dicking around with Unknowable Entities from the Otherlands. Or who're just too fuckin' horrible to care what they're doing. Whole towns go under sometimes, full of monsters. And we have to clean 'em out and find out who did it and how and who they're working with. Then find the humans who're fucking up and fill 'em with bullets because they won't stop otherwise and make sure they didn't leave any portals to the Otherlands open and if we did we have to kill whatever's coming out and close them...

I think he put some effort in tricking you into that, yeah. Not that he necessarily messed with your brain chemicals or anything like that. Just tried much harder to manipulate you into loving him than he ever even bothered with me. Like, he could do it to either of us, but Julissa got me snared enough and things were going his way enough that he never thought to try the seduction trick on me, whereas with you, well, things were different...

Might be a cultural thing. And I've got mine on a trophy wall when I'm in my coffee shop / hive combo on land, and over the door when I'm running the travelling one.

 

Well, most people don't use real skulls as decoration in my world, personal or private. As soon as they figure out it's real they've already decided what kind of person I am.

 

People who use fake skulls are just posers, honestly. Like, it's nice you want to go be all goth and edgy, but do everyone a favour and use a real one like the rest of the kids who know how to wield their specibus.

It's mostly just trying to kill us all the time, so it's not like there's a shortage on skulls or anything? Or on idiots who go fence-hopping.
Just sometimes the onces that have been skulls for longer time end up being shadowdroppers, and those are fricking nasty. Mine are still inert, it might be the sunlight that's doing it.
