Yeeeeeaaaah I contracted a [heavy sarcasm] *minor* case of possession as a wee teen. It got what it wanted but decided I was interesting and stuck around. When the Org picked me up they tried to get rid of it buuuut it altered my biology slightly so I need its ambient energy to live. I was under constant observation when I got my training, and now I've got Val looking after me, so I have independent confirmation it's never taken full control beyond the first incident. It just... likes to watch. And it's kept me alive a few times when I really aught to have died. Sometimes it offers input, especially when dealing with other Outlands entities.

I named it Jakob

 

There's nothing wrong with going through life with a partner like that.

Jakob is a more original name than "Shadow."

Eh. I freaked out when it happened. But it's been... about eight years? No-one around me's gotten hurt, I haven't lost any time, I'd have nightmares anyway after what happened. It could be better, sure! I'd like to have a thought to myself for once. But it could be a *lot* worse. Anything strong enough from the Outlands with a connection to my Earth can become a possessing entity. Some of 'em are actually pretty ok- they've got a strong... dunno how to describe it. Focus? On things we consider virtues. But they tend to think VERY black and white, and you're fucked if you're not fuckin pristine. Some have a focus on shit like madness and pain and greed, and those'll near always fuck you over. But those are the big ones. Jakob's big enough he had his own tiny cult, but small time compared to Mezlyn or Ekhylp'drurc.

Possession isn't all bad where I come from though. Some healers get their magic from entities that try to look after humanity for whatever reason.
