Ruby is the Knight, for sure. Although I always headcanoned Sapphire or Garnet as a Seer of Time and Pearl as a Knight of some sort, so... (Okay but imagine Garnet being all "i can help find the frog...i found a frog once" despite being neither a Space player nor a Knight.)

Spoiler: I'm having Steven feels Did someone here "call it" for Steven being stuck at 12-ish for awhile because he ages weird? because that was confirmed here. I also find it kind of funny he went from 1, 2, 3.... and then a sudden jump to 8? Is he still chronologically 14? Did Greg miss out on birthdays 4-7? Or are those pictures just missing from the book for affect? Or is Steven actually 9 years old chronologically, but when he suddenly turned 8 they just rolled with it? Also by the pictures he grew very little, if any, since he turned 8. I felt really bad for Steven in this episode, poor kid was really hurting both physically from stretching himself and emotionally. Since he ages based on how he feels I think the baby thing was kinda like a meltdown and a culmination of all his feelings about himself and Connie and being half gem overwhelming him. Especially since Connie saying she would hang out with him no matter what was the only thing that calmed him down. :( At least he felt better by morning! and Connie freaking out that he turned pre-baby was sad but also hilarious. I can just picture her mental image of lifting the shirt and an embryo falling out (at least until she said Zygote) idk I love all the gem stuff too but I love episodes that focus specifically on Steven and how he feels about... everything, because he is a wonderful kid but it is so hard growing up as it is, but he has to deal with all sorts of things on top of that. Like not having his mom around, multiple things that could destroy everything he knows and loves, nobody knowing how to handle his specific needs or even what they are because there's never been anyone like him. No wonder he sticks himself as a kid and stays there forever. Growing up is scary for all kids but it must be really scary for him! on a side note the gems not knowing how to handle a baby was hilarious to me, I relate so hard to Pearls "OH NO DON'T GIVE HIM TO ME!!!" because I panic and can't handle babies either and would probably have the exact same reaction xD
I'm so pleased, that EP answered a very nagging question I had Spoiler Namely the obvious one - how old is this kid, really, and if he's 14, why does he look so little? Well, because he hasn't looked any different since he was eight! I mean, the show let on to the fact he doesn't age normally in the last birthday episode, but I didn't really get what that meant for him in general. It's also interesting we got a hint at how long Greg has known the gems - he met them when he was 22. I'd peg him at middle aged by now, so call it... 20 years? Maybe more. In that time, Amethyst has gone from looking like a little kid herself, to looking like, idk, an older teen or so.
It seems to me like the episode was clearly saying that Steven is not stuck as a kid forever, anyway. He got a face hair! he wants to grow up, he just doesn't want to grow up TOO FAST, and the age he SEEMS to be doesn't always co-relate to the age he IS. That's all. Like. Babies? Would not understand what Connie is saying. Steven was still Steven then, mentally, he just physically reverted because of exhaustion and mental fatigue, and couldn't talk clearly because baby.
Slighty off topic (at least when it comes to discussing the latest episode) but I am fascinated by Steven Universe in other language. The dubs seem to be hit or miss with some of the songs, because I don't think some of them picked voice actors based on their singing ability. Here are some ones that I've found that I liked: Spoiler: Stronger than you (in Russian) (I am really surprised that all the lyrics are basically the same, when other countries tried to erase as many references to their love as possible, and changing it to a "fusions are the best and I'm super strong you can't beat me" kind of song.) Spoiler: Be Wherever You Are (in Japanese) (this one's just adorable) Spoiler: On the Run (Taiwanese Chinese) (Amethyst's lyrics hurt my soul) Spoiler: the opening song (Hindi) (idk why I just really love this dub of the OP)
I'm fascinated by the censorship in other countries, myself. Some of the stuff that gets commonly censored is just...kind of bizarre.
i'm still so hung up on Blue's pearl so much so in fact that i want to draw a whole bunch of frail graceful decorative pearls with stolen and scavenged weapons screaming WE ARE NOT THINGS at the diamond authority because yes pearl revolution is still my fav thing to consider.
