"being dependent on another person for your happiness is not, and never will be, a bad thing??" ....as someone who is dependent on another person for my happiness, I beg to differ, cause it puts a ton of stress on him and makes me easily unhappy and suicidal when he's not around. that doesn't strike me as good.
My suspicion about the coastlines looking different is combination global warming and Gem fuckery. Spoiler: probable music sperging Peridot continues to seriously ping me as autistic. She picks up solfege really fast (the do-re-mi) because it's a pattern and patterns are what she does.
it was just part of a post that crossed my Tumblr dash. I agreed with the rest of the post--it said that it wasn't something to feel bad about, especially if you can't help it, and that it's not something people should bully others for because you don't know their situation and if they can't help it and such. but that first line. that first line bugged me. just because you shouldn't feel bad for something doesn't mean it outright isn't bad.

I agree Peridot has a lot of spergy/autie traits, but I am a bit on edge about that headcanon because I think some people go 'well she's bad with people, so-' when she comes from a civilization that seems to discourage strong friendships and freetime within lower classes. I mean, looking at her body language (and pattern recognition) comes up a lot more strongly for me! I just think that given what we know of Homeworld, her (lack of) social tact can't be taken as a factor because she'd probably have them anyway.
While this is true, the other Homeworld Gems we've seen seem to have much better people skills. Although then again, we've seen very little of Jasper, and Lapis was imprisoned for so long that when she got back to Homeworld she could barely recognize it--it's possible that things have changed in that regard. But yeah, her body language and such is very spergy, IMO.
Yeah, that's my argument - Jasper is the only homeworld gem that's contemporary with Peridot, and it's not like we've seen enough of her to judge her. Furthermore, Jasper is a high-up soldier and Peridot is an engineer and tech. Could be different social expectations.
