She's unhappy because she's frustrated, of course! Someone actually designed her and then punishes her for following the natural inclinations they gave her, which is extremely cruel. And her emotional status is relevant because it's painful!

You should call it the Diamond Tautology. It's an Authority that stands for Order. Or an Order that stands for Authority.

What does this Order stand for? Why do you think it is good? Tell me what's good about destroying entire biospheres because they're organic and the thinking, talking beings that live there aren't Gems! Tell me what's good about destroying Gems that are unique! Tell me what's good about people spending their whole lives doing as they're told because they're afraid they'll be crushed?

I do admire Rose Quartz, but there are far too few like her and far too many like you. It's useless throwing your life away against something as huge as Homeworld. But I do what I want to do.

I'm just afraid that maybe you'll wipe out everything else some millennium and there will be nothing left but soulless, frustrated, suffering Order!

Sometimes I actually wish we'd run into people we couldn't just murder because they were actually able to protect themselves against us. Sometimes I even wish we'd run into people who are just and kind and powerful enough not only to protect themselves, but to protect everyone else against us!

 

...As the party criticizing the present system and recommending change, the responsibility for defending a viewpoint is on you. I am satisfied with my position. I see no reason to change anything.

So. If you truly believe that something needs to change, do not make bizarre emotional claims about your "fears" and "wishes." Attempt to convince me.

Tell me how the pain of a pearl is of any import. Tell me what makes something "cruel." Tell me why you, so clearly, condemn cruelty. You have the potential opportunity to gain an ally, for I am yet curious about the tendency of some gems to defiance. If there is a flaw in our system, I wish to troubleshoot it.

 

Pain is bad, Faustite, Cruelty is unnecessary.

We don't need food or water. We don't have reproductive drives. Each one of us is self-sufficient and should be able to live in the world without committing violence. We could build beautiful things as easily--more easily, maybe--through collaboration and shared imagination rather than by force and Order. We would not have to suffer. We could build beautiful things and still enjoy planets and peoples as they are, because we have no need for anything except some space to live in, and we can live almost anywhere; most organic life cannot. There is no need for any of this.

We could allow people to live whether they look exactly like all the others of their kind. Their fitness to destroy other peoples and worlds would not be an issue; they wouldn't have to do that. We wouldn't have to do that.

Pain is unpleasant. When people feel pain they are sad and angry and fearful. It shows in the way they move and the way they look. And fear spreads from one Gem to another. Pain spreads. So much of this pain is avoidable. Why does it not concern you that the Gem who owns a suffering pearl is probably cruel?

Cruelty is the infliction of unnecessary pain, particularly when you do it because you think it is fun. It's abominable. When organics hurt and kill each other it's sometimes because they're cruel but it's often because they need things we don't and they have to fight for them.

There is literally nothing a Gem needs to fight for. We need nothing but light to survive.
