Jegus, I use quadrants all-the-damn-time - like, in normal conversation. I'll be talking to my roommate and she'll be talking about the 100 to me, and talking about how she cannot see bellamy/clarke at All, and i'll go "yeah, they're more like kismesis. Kind of. Hm, but maybe lately they've gone a little grey. fuck, are they clubs? Are they clubs for the whole camp?" and because i explained quadrants to her like two years ago, she'll be "yeah exactly", while I'm reevaluating my entire life
There was an upd8. Spoiler: spoipers?????????? That was...actually horrifying and confusing but mostly horrifying jfc. On the lighter side of things, Caliborn's attempt at "doing less misogyny" and "doing more prosogyny" made me bust a gut laughing.
Ooooooh. dooooooo eeeeeeet Spoiler: upd8 Looks like Gamzee gets bisected again. I'm really curious where that "beta kids trapped in the juju" thing (and making it only alpha channel, incidentally) is going. Even if this scene doesn't meta-actually play out, I think that bit's gonna be important somehow. Also, the juju's white. As in Act 7. hmmm.
Spoiler And of course that's what the juju does. What else would a thing shaped like that do? The sogyny bit was hilarious too.
Spoiler Isn't that house thing what John stuck his arm in? Are we witnessing a loop where LE sent the filled one to paradox space to be found by Vriska and her pirates? I'm getting that from the heavy-handed *NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN* If so how did John stick his arm in if it was 'full'? Maybe because he was.... already there?
Spoiler Worth noting that the house-thing was literally transparent on the first page it was seen on. John didn't stick his arm in it, he stuck his arm through it, and the comic in general, to the site background outside of canon. So I'm thinking that the original effect of the thing wasn't so much "trap" as "remove from canon."
Spoiler: upd8 Wait, bladekindeyewear wasn't completely full of shit? That's a first. Also, god fucking damn it, guys. The fact that Caliborn was defeated solely by men also makes me doubt that this is how things will eventually go down even more, if that was possible. Also a nice way to get all those damn prophesies out of the way so we have no clue what's going to happen in the actual finale. Nice snipe at Caliborn-takes-over-Jake theories, too.
Spoiler: here, have some batshit upd8 IDEs courtesy of mspaf LE will be unable to harm Nepeta because part of him is Equius, like Bec Noir was unable to harm Jade. Nepeta will then prove essential to his defeat, like the other "bitches" he drew in the animu non-intermission. Caliborn's soul will eventually be moved into this frog (Universe C, where he orginated), and sent back in time for Becquerel to kill. Calliope will fuse with the other half of Gamzee somehow (I FINALLY GOT MY MOTHERFUCKING UNDERSTAND ON TO WHO THE MIRTHFUL MESSIAHS ARE. they were always both me. :o) AND ALSO MOTHERFUCKING ME. Do:) LE can destroy souls because of AR/Dirk is part of him. We've also apparently have one page left of this non-intermission, and we've yet to see the origin of the Cairo Overcoat...
hahaha i've been gone for a while cause i finally got my brother to watch the let's read of homestuck. he wouldn't read it so i finally caught him and made him sit down and watch it with me cause i couldn't figure out how to explain it without being very spoilery but knew he'd be interested. all the game stuff and meta and cagey bullshit is right up his alley. trouble is, he won't watch it without me, so we've basically been slogging through an act a night because he won't stop once we start. we've hit act 5 act 2, starting tomorrow. honestly i'm glad for the somewhat forced "reread". it's nice to brush up and think of simpler times, plus i'm catching a lot more nuances i missed because of blocks of text, which makes reading in general more difficult for me. he seems to really like gamzee. that'll be fun later.
@Wiwaxia FUCK, that Gamzee one. Son of a bitch. Though, IIRC, it was stated that that referred to Spoiler Doc Scratch and LE, not LE/Caliborn and Calliope so technically it would already be fulfilled? Son of a bitch that line, though.
Dude what even is Homestuck. I quit reading because of this shit. I remember 10/25/11. And that's pretty much where I stopped reading. I do spoil myself for the updates, though, when people make it make sense in meta. *camps out in this thread forever, starts making s'mores for everyone* Although I'm still confused. Can someone give me an explanation of why Lord English and Caliborn are (might be) the same person? As in literally, physically the same baseid/refid. I was under the impression that they were two completely separate persons, but then again, where PS was about spacefuckery, HS is about timefuckery, and I cannot deal with timefuckery like I can with spacefuckery. My head hurts and I hatelovehatelove Hussie.
shenanigans, it's always shenanigans. just kidding. Spoiler: the REAL lord english/caliborn 2x combo a few of the big ones are because of general things that happen to caliborn in his session. his godtier is lord of time, and if anyone was to be called a lord of time i think we can all agree it'd be LE (he's already here). the consorts on cal's planet are the felt, and every injury and subsequent fix (peg leg, tooth) are slowly being acquired by caliborn as the story progresses. there was also some VERY major plot stuff relevant to him in the most recent update, but i don't wanna spoil it for some hapless reader who hasn't checked it out yet and happens to click this spoiler. i'm still waiting for hussie to reveal he was pulling a fast one on us honestly.
Also it was noted when Hussie gave us Cherub Reproduction Facts, that Spoiler cherubs grow wings upon reaching maturity through their normal path, IE one consciousness consuming the other. LE looks, basically, like a wingless cherub, all his bullshit body mods aside - and since Caliborn didn't mature "properly" it stands to reason that he wouldn't get his Grown Up Wings (tm).
Yeah, I get all that. Here's my issue: to me, that looks like hero worship, and wanting to become someone so bad that you basically do all you can to make yourself into that person. Honestly at this point if Caliborn is Lord English I'm going to be... I don't want to say disappointed, but sort of. Spoiler: but what if But what if he's waiting to pupate and his cocoon is Doc Scratch somehow oh god yes that's not how it works BUT WHAT IF I'm in this thread because I want to get spoiled the shit out of me. Let me listen to you about Homestuck. I love the series, my brain just Cannot Do for some reason. I do better when I read backlog and at this point Homestuck is TOO LONG for me to focus on for some reason. If I can't get through it in five nights like I did with PS it's just. My brain. Ow. Plus, ex-English major, philosophy major, I keep having major meta feels. If I did a re-read blog, who would follow. Because seriously, maybe that's what I do between studying for the bar exam. That, and write my Aranea-writes-a-treatise-on-troll-family-law fanfic/fanlore.
So while we wait for new updates I am thinking of doing things in Homestuck that make me think of Irish polytheism. First thing on my list are the clouds of Prospit. The clouds present images of the future, an important thing for the Prospit dreamers. Space ones in particular since they seem to be the ones who wake up first. Anyway there are a lot of different kinds of divination mentioned in Irish myths, by the Romans, and so on. One of them is called neldorecht, which is cloud divination. I haven't been able to find any descriptions as to how neldorecht would have worked. More than likely we don't have any information on the specifics and never will. Any neldorecht practices now have to be made outright as opposed to reconstructed. Which is sad but there you go. Cloud divination though. This is kind of short and sparse but eh. It was a thing that came to mind and I am feeling woggly tonight. I think I'll try and talk about why the Handmaid makes me think of it soon though.
