liminal I'm gonna make it through this year if it kills me

I am still playing I just lost a few days worth of play and rage stopped-playing-for-a-couple-days because I didn't feel like redoing anything. I got over that, and now I am back. I have a coop now, but only one chicken, because I am perpetually poor. xD I just wanna save up for another barn and a seed maker, seed maker because people emphasize how much you need it, another barn because I already have 2 cows and a horse and I wanna make sure I have enough room for my alpaca and sheep once they are unlocked. (idk how many animals you can have per barn? and also I didn't see any option to make the barn bigger like in past games ;_;)

Also I just played through Mistel's purple flower event and got ~the boyfriend talk~ over at the guild, but idk if I wanna commit to him yet. I just got him up to purple flower because I found out he likes butterflies lol. I am slowly working on the other bachelors. I might take a break from giving gifts to Mistel so I'm not a heartbreaker, dream maker, love taker (don't you mess around with me).

I maintain that Raeger is super cute, and Fritz is surprisingly adorable. I might end up going for him, if only because he is super adorable I've never married the farmer option (unless you count Celia).

In this game there's no enlarging options! You can have two barns and two coops per side of your farm, and one pet house per side. Three pets per house, even if you have a dog in your home. I believe 6 chickens per coop? 2 rabbits per coop. I THINK 6 animals per barn as well. And you're not required to keep your horse if you want to sell it. You can always buy another one later. I just keep mine because now and then I wanted to get somewhere super fast. ...but now I've got balloons so idk for sure if I need it anymore or not. 8Ic You can also get different STYLES of coops and barns, but be wary: if you have too many animals, you won't be able to switch up the barns easily. i had such a pain in the ass time switching to an eastern barn because I already had two barns placed on that side. ..Had to make a cheap temporary one, swap animals, put the eastern one down in the right spot after putting away the old one, and then onward from there. 8I :SIGHS.:

Also you should be okay in regards to the heartbreaker thing! I don't think the reverse confession triggers unless you have a ring in your bag, but don't quote me on it.

Horsie's named epona but seriously I would be super grateful if people shot me name suggestions fo my farm animals in the other thread
Gameplay's really pleasant so far! I greatly enjoy the fact that I have an actual stamina bar! So comfortable!
the only thing that borders o tedious is resource management what with the trade depot but that will probably get better later into the game. Or maybe I'm being stupid and missing something but yeah. Asche could stand to come to town more often :U
(Also I'm looking forward to romancing the hell out of Raeger his white flower event was cute as hell)

alright like I knew I was expecting dokis from raeger's purple flower event but damn son you need a license for that shojo bubble effect! To paraphrase the immortal Greg Universe, it's like he drove a van into my heart

Yo what if hm type game set on an annexed vassal planet? Plus the dating sim stuff you can also choose to foster rebellion or play quisling.

(Hope this is coherent lmao I is sick. But fevery dozing smushed ancillary justice and hm together and I thought it was compelling enough to share :P)

Also from my SOS playthru iris is elegant as hell holy damn and Angela is surprisingly cute for someone who never deviates from resting bitch face. Gave both of them cookies for white day. Agate will have her work cut out for her at this rate.
And raegar is indeed adorable alas that gay marriage isn't an option.

Oh my god I want to kick my own ass. I tried a conquest for fun, expecting to lose, or on the miraculous chance that I did win, I'd give the field away to someone else. I just really wanted the rival points.

I won. Nobody challenged or asked me to give it to them.
I won the fricken Spice Field. A field that I can't even use.

EDIT: I looked it up and I am going to grow a metric ton of chilli peppers once silk countries come back just so I don't waste that field.

Also I went to the fireworks and Raeger is cute and I am getting the dokis and damn that boy is going to have a harem of farmers in this thread but honestly it's their fault for making him too fucking adorable this is ridiculous how can you not love him. I mean he described fireworks being scary when he was a kid and he'd cling to his dad because they are explosions in the sky with debris raining down on you! From that moment on my heart was like "That's it. He's the one."

If I RP my farmer family that would be an interesting story to tell the kids.

I decided to challenge for both the leafy crop field and the tall crop field, but the tall crop field is the one I really wanted...so I pooled all my resources into that. AND I WON. But then Veronica had the nerve to point out for the leafy crop challenge that I sold "significantly less" then Fritz and Elise, and I'm mildly insulted because I sold like 6k worth of stuff! How about YOU go and find 6k worth of fish, milk, eggs and wool? I DIDN'T THINK SO. (oh yeah I bought a sheep from cabin country after I did the mega-selling for the tall crop field)

oh god I've been playing all day. Updates:
    • I am now starting Fall
    • My farm continues to grow exponentially, the spice field, root crop field, and tall crop field are totally full. I also now have a pet house (I'm gonna buy a kitty!) and am patiently collecting wool so I can build the sewing studio. Between taking care of 2 cows, 2 chickens, a sheep, and a grand total of 4 fields (including my own farm) my poor farm girl is so over worked and has no time for any kind of social life x_x
    • I keep forgetting you can make fertilizer in the seed maker
    • Also I unlocked Sakura Country!
    • I WON THE SUMMER HARVEST FESTIVAL?!? I think it's because it's year 1, I'm on seedling mode, and I submitted a "fresh" tomato that had 2 stars. Still, I would have never expected that.
    • Raeger is now at purple flower, sadly I barely have any time to wait around to flirt with him and trigger his flower event
    • Also did Eda's 2nd rival event. She talked about her family. It hit me right in the feels.

I need to get to other events haha
I was wondering why you seemed to be progressing faster than me but I am playing on original which is still
so comfortable difficulty wise lol but might explain why I'm constantly out of money
    i'm so broke
raeger won't you be my sugar daddy?
I can't put a ring on you unless you help me finance the sewing shed

Yeah I have no shame when it comes to playing on the easiest difficulty levels lol

    neither do i normally haha
i just thought, heeeeeey whatever. I'm a big enby and I have two hm titles under my belt. I can be a big glorious tree instead of a seedling
I might do the boy farmer file in seedlig though if only to see how fast i can progress if i don't have to turn every cent over thrice
(not that I'm doing it. But I'm also hella broke about 3 out of 7 days of the week.)

Haaaah I'm hella broke most of the time in Seedling mode too, I just have more stuff.

I tend to crack out on HM games for brief periods, weeks to a month or two, and then completely forget about them for several months. I started over my SoS save a week ago when I hit summer without having any turnip seeds left (and thus unable to make the seed maker) and got mad at myself for Bad Planning.

Right now I'm running around like a madperson trying to build everything and upgrade everything. I tend to play pretty asocial my first year while I get myself situated and established, especially in the more recent games where you have to build more and more of the basic stuff. On the reset I named my file after one of my more squishy-in-a-hard-shell characters so it even fits. They're not entirely a loner, they just took the 'bring prosperity to our town' very seriously and don't have time to do much more than say hello when they pass people in the street. Once I've got my makers built and my tools no longer crappy (and more of the villagers unlocked) I'll start doing the social thing more.

(I actually wrote a mini fic for a brief challenge back when I was a regular on the UNoT forum [gods that was over a decade ago] about a workaholic Claire from More Friends of Mineral Town courting Gray in her spare time because they're both huge hypocrites about "take a break" "no YOU take a break" and end up keep each other from overworking. In retrospect they'd work better pale.)

I might be more productive if I wasn't spending so much time hanging around Raeger's restaurant winking at him so much it looks like poor Junior has a facial tick.
but it's pretty unlikely since I'm pretty much selling like 12k of stuff to Asche whenever she is in town, she just isn't around enough.

VERY BELATEDLY I can't speak for most of the Rune Factory series, having only played 4, but I am very fond of 4! With the Harvest Moon games, I felt they fell into tedium too quickly, but with RF4 when you're done taking care of your fields and chatting with/throwing foods they like at the characters around the village, you can go out into the world and beat up monsters (it's a pretty friendly game tho so when they're defeated they're just kicked back to the Forest of Beginnings from whence they came) and get their drops for crafting and selling or explore dungeons or find good mining or fishing spots and whatnot. And the field-tending thing ties in with that- not only are your crops good for selling or cooking with, when you harvest crops they'll sometimes drop Rune Orbs that level up a random skill of yours when they touch them (also all skills, even the more mundane/non combat ones like cooking and crafting and running and sleeping, give boosts to specific stats of yours as you level them). also there's festivals, which range from minigame-type ones to more obvious ones like cooking contests and seasonal crop contests. The NPCs all have plenty of personality and you can get them to come fight with you once they like you enough.

also you can befriend ALMOST EVERY MONSTER IN THE GAME yea even the boss monsters (though they're v. hard to befriend/require very rare/expensive items), at while point they will fight with you in the outside world or help you tend your fields ;3; and you can ride on the backs of some for a speed boost/cuteness. Some monsters will also drop a certain kind of item daily once you befriend them and they like you/you keep them provided with fodder (thank fuck tho you don't have to feed them individually, as long as the fodder bin is stocked all your monster frands will take from it automatically), which is especially handy with the ones who drop milk, eggs and honey so you don't gotta rely on beating enemies up for their drops when you just wanna make pancakes for a dragon's birthday.

    other pros:

-taking your love interest out on dates (a requirement, you can't just get their friendship up high and throw a ring at them and have done with it) is cute as fuq

    -a tsundere dragon

-a horse dude who you can give the petname 'Big D' to if you romance him (SERIOUSLY IT'S RIGHT THERE ON THE LIST OF OPTIONS)

-a lady knight NPC with practical armor

    -helpful sentient mailbox

-plenty of challenges/roguelike bonus dungeons/ 100%ing stuff that's not required but can definitely be enjoyable

-(did I mention the befriending/riding monsters around thing)

    cons:

-no same sex romance, sob (tho after beating the game once I think you can kinda do a thing where you can change your in-game appearance (but not your talking sprite) to the opposite sex, so that's a thing I guess :U)

-the plot isn't anything particularly groundbreaking or different

-if you don't talk to the village NPCs regularly (which you probably should be doing cause it helps boost their friendship along with gifts) you'll miss out on the (numerous) town events/cute little NPC-focused side stories dealios

-if you don't watch your stamina total and the crafting costs carefully you WILL knock yourself out making one fancy hat too many and take a hit in the pocketbook at the doctor

-fuckin hurricanes man (on a new game + though you can spend a certain kind of currency to force an oncoming one away for a week as often as you like, thank dragon jesus)

-what's with the female PC's outfit (seriously are those soda tabs on her nipnops)

SO YEAH that's a thing :U ask me if you have more questions!
