-kind of facepalming because Stalker antics but perks up- I know, right? I've never been able to go anywhere with this many people before I went to the duel! And there's no black lobsters anywhere! No Dog Packs and psi-stalkers that aren't Stalker, no dodging deadboy patrols like you have to do all the TIME in the 'burbs and I could never get into Chi-town proper, never ever. Places like Lazlo and Tolkeen were big, but not like the surviving tower cities. And I only saw the ruins of the cities that didn't make it from a distance. Not somewhere you actually want to go unless you've got a very good team and know exactly what you want, or you're terminally stupid. We found vids on... what was left of a guy who went to Madhaven. It was called something else before the Rifts was part of one of the really big cities. Mans-hat-eaten or something. It's scary there now, so it's Madhaven 'cause only the crazy go there and only the really crazy thrive.

 

I would have so died horribly.

...y'know, the fact that your world was more fucked up than mine must have taken effort. But, yes, that is definitely the sentiment. No more shenanigans trying to access services etc etc without a proper identity file. No more worrying about someone hacking me for combat purposes and getting to my name. No more looking over my shoulder for NARC agents or Nortec security. (Well, okay, I'm still doing that some. Hopefully I'll calm down eventually). No more choosing how deep into the radiation fields is really okay to set up permanently. It's nice.
