I think they were my first Homestuck ship and pretty much the only consistent one. Also probably one of the only ones that's gotten less pr96lematic over time
*guiltily high-fives you* alas, I never managed to find the appeal of Drarry. Thanks for your thoughts, not sure if the are part of on going discussion? Actually after some thinking it seems pretty unlikely you where addressing them all to me ... right? major hell yeahs to all of your points above, but especially the golden rule : FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING, TAG YOUR* FIC [ID OR OTHERWISE] APPROPRIATELY. I am also however a fan of the tag: Dead dove; do not eat. I totally agree with you about the Gravity Falls pairings. I mean I haven't actually come across the fics you're talking about, but I'm not surprised they exist. I have a lot of complicated and not wholly formed thoughts and feelings about the NAMBLA esque fic in fandom. *general you Harry Potter came out at just the right point in time that I was around the same age-ish as Harry was in every book. So at the time I was reading most of it, I hadn't quite developed the reasoning to understand the whys of how gross and wrong that relationship would be. I mean I got on some level that adults should not date teens (and teachers should not bang their students), but I had not solidly grokked the entire concept yet. I now find the concept of some of the fics I used to read existing, exceptionally off-putting due to the underage nature of so many of them. My reading of the pairing as an adult to be a lot more picky about what I want explored, and also ripe with accidentally finding new things that squick me. but I guess I hope kids who are like I was, are getting something positive out of it? (and not the societally pervasive notion that it's a-okay for adults to date teens). I mean it never did me any IRL harm. I think I might also have Snape Stockholm a little bit. I grew up with this character that I hoped and expected to turn out to be so much better a person than he did, and part of me straight up refuses to accept it. As a child I was pretty blind to all the ways in which he was already a terrible person. >__>. I read a lot of revisionist, LolWhut Canon? fic now. I'm sorry I think I just got my feels everywhere. <tangent> Speaking of tags, should there be trigger warnings on certain comments we post? I mean I kind of assumed that the thread topic was one big one, but I also don't have any triggers so I'm not the best judge of that. </tangent>
@KittySnores I think we all expect there to be triggery stuff in a thread like this? I am a fan of "Dead dove; do not eat" but I would like to know what flavour of dove it is before I decide if I want to eat a dead dove. I mean like I said, I love aged-up Dipford with GSA so "Dipford" and "dead dove" isn't really enough information for me to do anything other than sigh and not read it because I don't want NAMBLAfic.
Reviving this thread, because the boyfriend got me into Banshee recently, and that whole show is a smorgasbord of deliciously unhealthy relationships. There's the main character and his relationship with anyone, seeing as he's a con dealing with PTSD from being in prison for 15 years, but the dynamic that really has me by the short and curlies is the local crime lord and his niece. Spoiler: Banshee season 1 spoilers I have such a huge feelsboner for Kai and Rebecca. Estranged uncle takes in niece after family rejects her as they have him, they have a very obvious sexual attraction. He doesn't groom her sexually but she is a vulnerable young adult with no one else, and he does start grooming her to take over his business. Conversely, she knew that he was a crime lord before she came to him, and the show does a good job of establishing that she's comfortable with him looking at her, at least, and that she at least somewhat enjoys having his kind of power over the town. Even before she was shunned they talked sometimes, and they're the only two that understand each other. All of that just absolutely gets me where I live. Basically, when we finished season one last night, I turned to the boyfriend and went "we need to catch up so I can read the thousands of words I need about them without spoilers." And in new Star Wars I have somehow fallen into Hux/Kylo Ren, despite attempting to spiteship Rey/Kylo Ren. There is just so much quality fucked up content.
So, a few days ago I made a post in the spirit of this very thread. To date, it has nearly 10k notes (holy shit) and I've only gotten a handful of negative responses. All but one have been general "BUT WHAT ABOUT <PROBLEMATIC THING OF THE WEEK>?!?!?!!!!1" That was today. That was "unless you like reylo then ur just garbage lol" I didn't respond, because I don't want drama, BUT: *clears throat* eat a bag of dicks, anon, no one asked you
@Void Ooh, please do provide! That's the kind of trash I am All About and either my searching skills are subpar or people are good at hiding their stuff away, because I can't find it.
