Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and other similar games!

Honestly I'm lowkey amazed at how easy romancing him is like goddamn I am STILL in the last third of Summer of YEAR ONE and I am THIS far? If I got everything I need for my House done I could probably get married BY WINTE OF YEAR ONE WTF
I am NEVER married before year three and almost always after year five in these games!
and it isn't even my priority rn I just wanna get all the cute fluffy animals to pet and squeal at oh my god my sheep is so adorable I can't wait to own bunnies and alpaca too!

 

lol I know, right? The house upgrades are SUPER easy now that you can cut down trees, and the trees grow back, and you need less lumber for an upgrade. I am not very far with romancing but to be fair I didn't know who I wanted to date until the end of summer and now mid winter we're "going steady" depending on how long it takes to upgrade my hammer (so I can find the Orichalcum I need) I might be able to marry him in Year 2, and if not (if only because I want a specific wedding date/birthday) I will definitely be able to marry him in year 3

starting a family hasn't been this easy since A Wonderful Life where the whole point was to start a family and watch the town grow and change over the years while you tend to your farm

 

When Raeger says going to the Starlight Gala with me is the easiest decision he's made all week

also, i mean this might be dumb of me to ask, but... should i actually bother with building stuff for the safari? the big tree sounds like a HUGE resource sink and I'd rather just build up more cash for the maker sheds. I just unlocked sakura country and will probably put the pottery shed second on the list of blueprints to purchase. That means that list looks like this right now:

1. Chicken barn + chicken (35k)
2. pottery (40k)
3. sewing (40k)
4. cheese (40k)
5. I definitly want the gift wrapping station before I hit next spring but its low priority (2.5k)

I think I'll probably get enough money for at least the first item on the list during my next attempt at getting the honey field from Elise (HAHAHA I WON THE HARVEST FESTIVAL AGAINST HER AND SHE WAS SO MAD oh my god i'm <3<-ing so hard for this stupid woman) and then I'll die even more, since rn i have planted SO MUCH STUFF oh my god stamina is really kind of becoming a problem. I thiiiiink i probably shouldn't have planted so much stuff all at once after already flailing to accomodate the soy beans in my routine (but i have the recipe for soy milk now so that will bring me $$$ i suppose!) but i mean hey! having the seeds can't be too much of a waste if they are left over I can always plant them next year!

 

Nah, don't worry about the safari right away. I'm terrible and haven't bonded with any of the damn animals that aren't my own pets, half because busy and forgetful and half because Just Not Invested In That Life.

I only now upgraded the safari for the first time because I had the supplies finally, and had about 2mill burning a hole in my pocket. Now the money is back and I'm just waiting for the supplies to come back. 8/ :SIGH: Never bothered with the gift wrapping station because at the time I was giving presents and wanted the bonus, I didn't have the supplies to spare to make the ribbons.. and now I just go HEY. YOU. WANT A FLOWER??? YEAH. HERE'S YOUR FLOWER. TAKE THE FUCKER. TAKE MY AFFECTIONS.

And yeah, once you get the kitchen and some basic recipes its easy to handle the stamina drain without running to the restaurant all the time. I keep like. 40-60 bread on me most of the time, and sometimes the food trades earn me too. Snacktime while planting lmfao. just need tea with it and it's perfect.

the lil bunny on the first crossroads south of the farm lets me handfeed it now :3 but admittedly I only did that because of how cute the bunnyrabbit is
and yeah I'll probably have to stock up on ingredients and make some food so I can snack. stamina management went from 'this is really unchallenging as long as I'm not chopping down trees or crushing boulders' to 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH' pretty quickly!
also I thought i wouldn't liek Agate but she's pretty cute!

 

this thread is making me want to go back to my copy of A Wonderful Life so much...except we just traded in the wii and put the gamecube in the loft... . .

suggested harvest moon titles for someone who really (really, REALLY) enjoyed AWL but hasn't played any of the others really? i miss having a virtual farm to sink excessive amounts of time into.

 

Actually, if you have a 3DS, Story of Seasons is great!

It's pretty much the only handheld game that seems... sorta similar? In terms of gameplay. There is also Harvest Moon DS ... for the DS....that takes place in the same village, and is basically the mobile version of AWL, but the gameplay/atmosphere feels totally different so I wasn't super fond of it.

So I got a lot of blueprints that are for, like. Carnival rides. Teacup rides and other things, I am excite.
BUT I AM GRUMPY AND WANT A CAMEL ALREADY.
BECAUSE I JUST GOT A BLUEPRINT OF A LARGE CAT PLUSH.
AND IT REQUIRES 10 CAMEL HAIR.

I actually found I love my llamas more than my alpacas, somehow.. And that's even after moving them to the Annoy shed. THEY HAVE LITTLE WHITE HEARTS ON THEIR CHESTS AND LOOK NAKED WHEN YOU SHAVE THEM. IT'S SO SILLY.

Double doki's because once they crawled, you can go upstairs and catch him at night and get something to the tune of:

Which aside from the child part is something my irl spouse ha said, just about our cat or general cute things. Because when he sees something small and cute he loses his damn mind.
