trying to come up with a personality/backstory is like:

I imagine an eye gem is probably some kind of scout. We've seen centipeetle's gem is an eye that has an actual pupil that moves around. So it's like... always having one eye open. However in a modern gem era, scouts are probably replaced with more efficient and disposable robots. Then I had the idea that some of the ships are gem powered (like Lapis's mirror) and getting one really good piece of tech instead of two things with a redundant function.

I think being turned into what is essentially a tool that has sentience (though nobody actually knows or cares) would be punishment for not having the most competent track record ever. Like, during the rebellion falling for a trick (like being distracted by tracking a smaller group of rebels that looked like they were going to pose a threat, while the army attacked from a different location. Bad times!) I think being distracted easily is a reason why she wasn't as useful as she should have been, and why such a grave mistake would happen.

I think being trapped in a machine is inherently pretty awful, but I think she would still have a lot of conflicting feelings about freedom. Because she's "loyal"! and that totally means accepting whatever horrible situation you're put in no matter what, because it's not about you and your feelings, and actually caring about yourself is really selfish! So being put in the position would be stuck be a choice between keeping your loyalty and who you are supposed to be, or being a traitor but being free of a situation that you really don't want to be in. Which is next to impossible decision to make when you don't want to be a traitor but you don't want to go back home.
Which translates to panic, which translates again to aggression because it's not a situation where fleeing or freezing works. Also you know, she's technically still a quartz soldier.

wondering what the psychological side affects would be for being trapped in a machine. Dissociation is probably a coping mechanism for that. I like Steven's ability to project himself into people's dreams, so maybe a sort of similar ability for astral projection works here too (as a way to scope out situations without putting yourself in a dangerous situation, and ties into dissociation.

Ironically it's healing crystal properties are supposed to be thinking clearly, insight, and it's supposed to be grounding. Then again, Jasper is supposed to be calm and nurturing lol.

I am reading the RP thread now and I'm tempted to join because you have all these gems who are really nice to each other and then there's this cranky asshole.
