Pixel art! (digital and physical alike)

those are SO COOL! the circles-inside-circles bead gradient is triggering a strong visual memory but I can't work out what it is.. I'll get back to you if I figure it out.

 

Right? I feel like there' some art style(s) it's reminiscent of, but not sure what. Not pointilism, exactly.

Well now I need to try making Starry Night Over the Rhone

 

It was pictures of /faces/, I think. Rendered in that circle-in-a-square style. Painted. I feel like I saw it in a magazine, maybe muse??

Sssort of, but the dots were inside a grid of squares that also varied in color, and there wasn't line work like that either. I think they were more photorealistic??

and last night i was bored so i looked up colour palettes and used tis one. (shading???)

 

I'm experimenting some more with the mini perler beads and color transitions. Right now, I'm seeing if there's any way I can preserve the circles and have it look good. Because circles-in-circles is a different effect than circles-in-squares.

 

Remember me saying this? Well, I did give it a shot. Unfortunately, it's the biggest one I've done with the mini beads, and I'm wrestling with the iron to get the danged thing to melt. Like, parts of it melted so well that they're already smearing, and other parts are only mostly melted. Very annoying.



I've got that church again for comparison, on what a piece looks like when they melt about as intended... and the one that I did today, playing some more with the effect of the contrast between large and small beads of the same color.

(emy's symbol is supposed to be a mouse and its tail, ivy's was supposed to be like an ivy leaf, not sure how good it looks. :/ )
