another handy mod rec: http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/less-depressing-marriage-dialogue.109634/ apparently after marriage some of the dialogue is just incredibly depressing and was really making me uncomfortable. i hate the idea of somebody basically giving up their dreams to settle down. so i'll probably be downloading this once i get to the point of marrying anybody.
The marriage dialogue has actually been improved as of 1.0.6! I can't speak from experience but I've heard it's quite good.
I've really liked Elliot's so far! Spouses now are more inclined to do their own thing, and I've seen people talking about how the ones that had inexplicably dropped their interests before are back to engaging with them. There's lots of new bits of dialogue sprinkled in with their around-the-house daily activities, too, and those are a delight. As Ruevian said, it's not necessary, and it's a pretty simple mechanic as it is. Just hanging out with the villagers builds up friendships with them over time, and it's up to you if you want to take it up to 'dating' - which pretty much consists of business as usual.
See, I've only married Harvey so far, and I guess he was the only one not to be TOTALLY depressing after marriage? He still goes to the clinic and during the weekends will still play with his ham radio trying to contact pilots, just like he used to.
I think it varied depending on spouse - the ones I saw people talk about specifically were that Sam would say he no longer had the drive to play guitar and Sebastian would say he no longer wanted to ride his motorcycle. And I think Abigail just didn't leave the farm, ever, or talk about gaming or adventures anymore? Which got a lot of D: from the community, who didn't like the idea of their pixel spouses giving up on their interests to fixate on their player character. BTW, tried out your texture mod last night - I LOVE it. <3 Now if I could only get Robin to sell the right furniture.
Yeah, that...that's a fucked up unintentional message to send out. "Once you get married, your dreams and friends and family don't matter! Just stay at home and cook for your spouse 24/7!" DDDD: Oh good! Glad you like it, it was fun to do. :3 Let me know if you'd like me to recolor anything else.
How difficult are the buildings to recolor? Because as cute as the rustic look is, tbh if I was running a farm I would be painting everything candy colors. Meanwhile, I continue prodding ineffectively at the accessories and hair. At least I finally got the sideview of the red scarf looking less weird.
Not that hard at all! I've edited someone else's mod for my current game: As for accessories, it took me FOREVER to properly align the two fuckin' pixels for a choker. :| It'd help if the .pngs could show where stuff falls on the player sprite.
Oooh! :O Wow, that looks cool. ... Is that brick from the brick wallpaper you can get? Because there's a rainbow version, and, uh... idk, maybe it would be too garish but since I apparently want my game to be as gay as humanly possible... >_> AT ANY RATE, I could whip up a little palette of colors I like and you could figure out how they'd work in not-terrible ways on the buildings? Or something, just let me know what you need from me to make this work as smoothly as possible. (I KNOW, RIGHT. I copied over some heads from the base sprite sheet and made a rough guess at alignment from there based on where the glasses fall on the face, which helped a lot. And, once I finished the scarf, completely bluescreened on ideas of anything else to make. :|)
No, I think the modder handpixeled the bricks. They're smaller than the brick wallpaper. Yeah, feel free to PM me stuff you're looking for and palette and whatnot. If you want me to put the rainbow bricks on the house (and farm buildings if you wanted? Silo and well will be trickier because of rounding but I can swing it) I can do that. Candy coated fences? Pastel stone path? :D
I probably shouldn't let this get too out of hand... XD But yeah I will PM you with details! In other news, I think I made a couple of decent looking long curlyish hairstyles. I need to try them in game, and maybe figure out how to make them add-ons rather than replace hairstyles (even though there are a bunch of hairstyles I really, really don't care about), but... so far so good!
Hair SUCCESS. YEAH!!!! These are however replacements (the really long hair with the weird bangs, the really mom-ish bob, and the long hair with bangs), and I did tweak a bunch of the base hairstyles, so I'm not sure if this is really sharable.
If you don't mind losing those three hairstyles and having a few tweaks (I brightened all the hairstyles, removed the flippy bang bit on the longer ponytail, and made the one sidecut that goes over the eyes - the really exaggerated one - less exaggerated it and flipped it so it covers the opposite side than the first sidecut), then have at it!
GUYS I DID A FUNNY WITH A FRIEND If any of you have video editing skills and would make this a reality I would pay in art
HOLY SHIT turns out you CAN change your appearance in the game. Get 4 hearts with the Wizard and you can go into his basement and pay a shrine 500 gold. You'll get to change everything.
Not everything - gender and catdog is fixed. But yes, you can change skin/eyes/hair/clothes as many times as you can afford.
I gave in and bought this game 2 days ago steam says i've been playing for 18 hours despite having an exam today (i think i still passed so it's fine but fact still stands: i spent the entire time i should've been studying playing stardew valley instead what the heck) it just turned fall. everything is really orange. initially i was Very Determined to romance Penny but Abigail played video games with me, so i mean, ,, ,,, , (I have a question about animals? I have chickens now and they're super cute buuuuut I feel like it can't possibly be a financially good choice, to pay for a coop/barn and then pay for the animal itself only to get like 40 coins a piece for the eggs, it'd take forever to make a profit that way? I am confused. Am I doing something wrong)
(you'll want to craft a mayonnaise maker (or more than one) as artisan goods are more expensive than the raw goods)
