well that's... not good. that thing should probably not move
ratchet please don't threaten to punch whirl just because he cannot contain his snark. it's a very troubling tendency.
Getaway, i think Skids is already too far assimilated with the nutters to help you with the rod pod thing. He knows such things are normal aboard the lost light.
Don't worry, Getaway you'll get there too.
"Third on the left. Can't miss it. Looks like a giant brain" ilu ratchet
well starscream if you weren't so annoying i'm sure people wouldn't be terrible right back.
    um.
    Pax?
FUCK YOU HOW DARE YOU HIT MY RODIMUS
... no, i don't ACCEPT that excuse, Pax. How dare. You hit. My Rodimus?
aww Whirl hon. It's okay you don't have to be in a confined space anymore D:
why does this kind of bullshit always happen to these poor bots? They don't deserve getting their rod pod blown up.
(I'm sure there'll probably be a second renditon because this is too perfect to abandon)
    well that's painful.
Also would people please stop being mean to Cyclonus i'd be much obliged.
I fucking hate Nova so much.

I'll admit I was spending most of my time screenshotting Chromedome and Rewind being gay between shots of Rodimus being handsome, but special mention goes to the panel where Megs and Magnus look like they're about to make out. I'll ship it. I'll ship anything.

That being said, this series has really good timing in it. That final spread of pages? Holy shit that is a gutpunch.

How the fuck do you look at that page and tell yourself "no, he's a good person we swear"?

the frequency with which punching whirl comes up as a concept is troubling!!!! i am especially troubled by the apparent sea of whirls at swerve's theme night!!! stop talking about punching whirl

Oh what's that? You want a quantifiable format of just how many lives Megs has ended as a genocidal tyrant? Well, no accounting for the organic races, but here's an absolutely gorgeous visual that is the equivalent of the Holocaust shoe pile have fun.

And yeah, but I think we're headed to bed for the night. I should bang out the last six issues tomorrow though. I'm hype.

i'm... looking forward to it. sort of.
I hope the misadventures of the nerds take a good end! i just can't say i'm very invested in the main plot of this cross over it seems very tedious and self-important and i'm all about that delicious ridiculous roadtrip through the galaxy life that was the norm of the lost light crew :U

Taking a break to read Last Stand of the Wreckers after the Shadowplay arc with telling the stories to Rung.

Kinda surprised Ray never identified with Overlord.

@PRelations, especially given what you said up there, don't forget the holiday special!! Actually, anyone who's past Dark Cybertron and has met Nautica should absolutely positively definitely read the holiday special. It's a few short stories, split across a few sections of continuity. There's one section for Starscream and Cybertron (which is gr8 even without having read RiD), there's one section for the Lost Light (AMAZING), and there's one section for Thundercracker (ex-decepticon seeker) being an author on Earth (also hilarious).

I'm really surprised too, and as I read RiD, I'm even more surprised he never identified with Arcee. These two characters really do have, in current continuity, the whole ultraviolence thing he keeps trying to force on Drift, so I don't know why they're so unbelievably neglected :T Hell, he even has ready-made excuses at hand for them being the way they are because they were shaped by abuse, there's no reason for him to be ignoring them so completely

(also last stand of the wreckers is amazing, I love that miniseries a lot. after you read that, you should totally go back and reread that little part of the shadowplay arc with ironfist)

Arcee is female. Depending on whether he considers Spotlight: Arcee to be canon, she's female in a way that he would, for good reason, find possibly triggering. So it makes sense that he leaves Arcee alone.
Overlord being left out is kind of weird.

ahhh i'm inclined to want people to hold off on the holiday special until after 49 for characterization purposes
(i.e Whirl Tries To Be A Good Person, Finally) but also because
you see the aftermath in 'no guns, no swords, no briefcases'

but i'm also NOT THE BOSS OF ANYONE so :P

ETA: oh but YES @PRelations you MUST include it in your home stretch binge tomorrow!! i'm just doing anxious hovering about chronological order for everyone else

I'm currently nearly-up-to the dark cybertron arc in RID, I think, and I am up to it in MTMTE, so I'm trying to read more of RID, then do the crossover dance.

honestly i'm not surprised at all that he doesn't identify with overlord! overlord's one of those characters that you can't really whitewash into a misunderstood antihero, and ray likes for his stable of villainous characters to have some reason, however flimsy, for their actions. overlord is a straight-up sadistic monster, and there's no remotely believable way around that fact. ray can't shimmy his way into 'oh but really fort max was to blame for garrus-9, and megatron should have paid more attention to overlord and----'

ACTUALLY I JUST PLAYED MYSELF, never mind what i said up there: ray doesn't identify with overlord because it directly interferes with his huge boner for megatron. there we go.

Yeah, Spotlight: Arcee is... a thing. Yeah. That is understandable. I wasn't really feeling her, but by the time I ran into her interactions with everyone, around issue 20-ish of RiD, on top of the rest of the awesome, she's pinging my autism radar hard and I am very very in love with her character. That one conversation she has about rules and secrets, god, that hit hard. The phase 1 canon gets weird at times, so I guess I'm good at turning off some parts of it in my head, but it probably helps that there isn't anything that would be particularly triggering for me.

Oh, I just realized why Ray won't ever go for Overlord. Because even in a sympathetic abuse narrative, the abuser would have to be Megatron.

(edit: ahhhh, ninja'd by apple on the megatron realization!)

Even though in canon, regardless of how psychopathic/sadistic/etc Overlord was from the start, Megatron does act abusively towards him, nonconsensually hack his brain, all that good stuff. Nooooooooooo no nooooo Megatron might have gone too far in a few places but he's super sorry and he had his reasons, so Overlord's abuse retroactively never happened.

Also, the RiD cartoon: Grimlock is my handsome dinosaur husband how is he so precious all the time always. I've seen art of some of these characters before, but there are some that I definitely thought were Autobots who are actually Decepticons (not arguing, but it took me by surprise). Some of these accents are not what I imagined, but I'm enjoying them. Especially Thunderhoof. I thought he'd have, like... really refined speech patterns or something. No clue why, but that is definitely not the case :P And I don't think I knew Strongarm was a lady, so that was a pleasant surprise and she is big and buff and beautiful and I love her dearly. I am headcanoning her as Wheeljack and Ultra Magnus's kid so fucking hard. Oh, and Sideswipe is my wonderful, awful, precious robot son and I also love him.

Really, though, this would have been so much more interesting if they came back to earth and hooked up with Raph and his kid or something. There was already stuff in TFP they didn't get to fully explore with Raph and his knack for technology, it would be much more believable than some random junkyard dude fiddling around with advanced alien tech and actually getting things to work. And I am awfully tired of the stupid-ass disguise ploys actually working. TFA had its problems, but I liked just having the vague advanced human technology and the broken masquerade, it was a much more elegant setup than this business.

.....also after TFP and TFA I am still all a-sulk over this show for the sole reason of needs more Ratchet

I would argue that there is a third explanation for the "all criminals are decepticons", which is that if you're the sort of person who would be a criminal, you're probably going to be a decepticon to begin with. ... With some weird exceptions, like the crazy doc or whatever.

Anyone watched the Transformers Animated cartoon with Sari? I haven't, but I'm super interested in the fact

She is as close as you can get to a human/transformer hybrid, but I'm sort of suspecting the wider fandom hates her for that reason, and also being a little girl to boot?

    Re: Ray and Overlord:
That makes sense, which leads to the question of how identifying with Vos will work out in light of recent developments. I'm guessing that he mostly has forgotten it, but even so.
