Did I ever recommend The Guinea Pig Girl here? Because if not that is a really lovely short story by Thana Niveau. Plot is a guy gets a little bit too attached a series of guro film knockoffs of the Guinea Pig franchise. It's a love story and a horror story! The best sort of horror!
ahaha oh man, I'm listening to the Black Tapes podcast and I'm so not used to podcasts with binaural audio, it's weird :D
!!!!i just started season two. i've never binged a podcast so fast, even when I had a ridiculously long commute that i spent listening to podcasts what an excellent podcast
I dunno how fast I'll finish it, since audio horror is 2spooky4me. I can read oodles and oodles of creepypasta (although even mediocre creepypasta gets me jittery and anxious), but an out-loud or timed* aspect can make me actually have to stop for a bit. *like those chatlog-horror stories where you press space and it says (typing...) for a while and then shows you the message. What's that one about Annie?
idk, it actually isn't that scary to me - i've listened to it mostly while alone in the house and it's just fascinating. I have a way better tolerance for horror than i did even a year ago, but still. Definitely not as terrifying as a lot of the Pseudopod stories are
@blue just checking, does annie is typing have jumpscares? it looks like something i'd be interested in but i can't handle jumpscares.
It doesn't have any audio or picture jump scares, nope. Sometimes there's a pause for a "[whoever] is typing" message and then the message comes up, but nothing other than messages shows up. I can't handle jump scares either X)
@Bel Capricorn the amount something creeps me out seems to be only sort of related to how actually-well-written-and-scary it is; for example, a few years ago I got scared as fuck by the face-in-space episode of the X Files, which is objectively terrible.
bites my knuckles in distress over The Black Tapes being on a semi-in character hiatus until may. I love this podcast so MUCH and I want them to continue going (even if it makes sense in the context of the story...and probably in the IRL context) I'm such a sucker for this particular podcast if only because it's done alarmingly well and made me Incredibly paranoid on more than one occasion Spoiler: possible spoilers for the first/second season? For that I mean specifically the Unsound, which despite my best efforts the show trolled me into hearing it and even though it's FULLY FICTIONAL I'm still unreasonably worried about dying in a few months time. There was also that one demon's name that, thankfully, my brain hasn't allowed me to remember lest I summon it. Thanks black tapes, unironically. I've also been listening to Alice Isn't Dead, and that's just wonderful too. As someone who had a parent who was a truck driver for a few years, listening to this podcast gives me an intense sense of nostalgia. And also the shivers, because wowie I have seen creepy shit in my travels across Nothing, America, and none of the stuff that happens in the podcast seems like stuff that COULDN'T ever happen. I love it.
Strand is such a jerk; I'm hype for bad things to happen to him : P (typically I'm on the side of the Science Character in science-and-paranormal duos! and I agree with a lot of what he says! but Alex is so nice! and ofc I do like him, but there's a large overlap between characters I like and characters I'd like to get punched)
@blue oh my god, same. strand is the BIGGEST JERK IN THE UNIVERSE and also the most suspicious and it's great ive never wanted to punch a scientific logic character so much in my life
Has anyone else been listening to Tanis? The cabin in episode 2 sounds a hell of a lot like the House from House of Leaves
