    So you may not recall, but in MTMTE 15 or so, Pipes tried to send a message to his friend Hubcap. And then got stomped by Overlord. Now remember the flashback sequence with Pipes in 50, where Pipes is talking about being lonely and wanting to meet people. In particular he mentions that he and Hubcap were close, but Hubcap stayed behind and didn't come on the Lost Light. Then when Pipes was telling Drift what he's into, he was like 'I like mechs my size, big chestplate, triplechangers, and an aquatic alt mode.' Now, here's Hubcap. He's the little guy on the right.

    hubcap.jpg

    (roadbuster's fingers are almost as thick as his wrists, jesus christ i am into this ship)

    Given how hilariously specific Pipes' list was, Hubcap is still not a bad match. Two out of four ain't bad, and that is a sizeable bosom for such a little guy.

    So basically I'm pretty sure Pipes had a massive crush on Hubcap and after nearly dying once and getting shot another time, he never even got a chance to send Hubcap a last message before being viciously crushed by Overlord and dying all alone.

    This is such a happy canon!

    Looks like it's Machinima, not Roosterteeth, actually, according to the TFWiki.

    Hasbro doesn't think that would sell toys. They learned nothing from MLP:FIM expect something something money.

    I just made this joke in acey's brainweird thread but I am too tired to think of a better one

    *stumbles into thread, dropping BPD Prowl meta and collapsing onto the floor*

    It's got very mild spoilers for lots of the parts of the continuity, like umm. MTMTE up through 28, the beginning of SOTW. Spoilers for the end of LSOTW, but not if you've read MTMTE. Slightly more major spoilers for ex-RiD, but still on the not-too-serious end of the spoiler spectrum.

    also this meta was written entirely to jovial bawdy songs, and let me tell you, that was some real tonal dissonance

    Combiner Wars was a good way to sell lots of toys that could come in sets, plus a lot of familiar names, plus they could just reuse a lot of molds and nobody would really object because of course it would be hard to reengineer so many combining transformers. Whereas with MTMTE they would have a lot of names that were either more obscure or completely new, individual robots so that purchasers wouldn't feel obligated to get five toys at once, and people would demand individual molds for each of them.
    Plus Combiner Wars is a lot less mature as a series. MTMTE deals with some heavy issues. Combiner Wars is just giant robots hitting each other. So Hasbro figures that they can market to a younger audience with Combiner Wars. I mean, look at their other lines. The one-step changers, the launcher whateverthehells, all that garbage. Hasbro is marketing to children.

    Ohhhhhhhhh, that is fascinating!! Oh man, that would be so cool if that played out. I'm so torn, I like all the conflicting theories for this, they're all so good and I know only one can come true ;_;

    Hasbro is notorious for shooting themselves in the foot (see constantly releasing the Mane Six from MLP:FIM with very minor changes and wondering why sales dropped or wondering why the Pink Celestia did sell - girls love pink right? ) when it comes to marketing and only see their shows as long commercials. They resent pretty hard that FIM is too popular to cancel - which is why they launched the Esquerira Tales show wanting to sell more toys. And wanting to sell toys that are as cheap as possible to make because kids don't care if they look right, right?

    They're having this problem with the "bottom' run of RID toys right now. I've heard kids complaining in the alley that characters don't look right and parents not wanting to spend 20 plus dollars for the ones that do.

    This is part of the reason why the version of Transformers toys you can get from Japan are often better quality since the company making them for over there is more aware of who will put down 200 dollars for an action figure.

    They just want to sell toys. If they can't make different colored toys every season with the same molds it's not marketable.

    That's why I don't pay any attention to the Hasbro toylines. Takara is slightly better, but only by so much.
