Well this is stupid, but I had fun writing that secretly-pretty-personal silly little Prowl thing, and my strongest conclusion was 'it's reasonable to headcanon X,' but apparently I done goofed. http://icecreamrobot.tumblr.com/post/142558132742/does-prowl-have-bpd I'm pretty sure they're not being reasonable, and I don't think they're doing so hot on the character interpretation front either, but I was not expecting to be yelled at out of the blue and this is more upsetting than I thought. I'm honestly having trouble parsing a decent amount of what they're saying. But I think that one, they're doing a lot of confusing outward expression of emotion with inward feelings? Like Prowl says 'I didn't take [Spike's betrayal] personally' when he clearly took it so fucking personally. And I think they're being too uptight and literal about some word definitions. And I... think they're saying that Optimus Prime is Prowl's abuser??? Urgh, I'm sorry, I'd just been refreshing tumblr one last time before I went to bed, and it was like getting a bucket of ice water dumped on me. I didn't fuck up egregiously in my analysis, I don't think? And at the very least any non-canon-supported things I may have interpolated into Prowl were yoinked from myself, so now I feel like a fakey faker who fakes, which is a great way to end the evening. Of course my reaction was to split hard at the post, which is... good for not feeling like a fake, I guess, bad for the ol' stress levels :V I managed to sit on the knee-jerk NO UR WRONG reaction, but now I've got a nice headache. I just wish I knew how I'm expected to interact with this kind of thing. Is it possible for me to disagree (and have them listen) without outing myself on tumblr? Will they listen even if I do out myself? If I ignore it, will they come yell at me more? I'm willing to debate individual points, but I'm not okay with being yelled at like I'm a complete idiot who needs to be shouted down. The Cronus NPD post was fun and casual and structured the same way, but I guess I forgot how a lot of tumblr reacts to particular this flavor of PD. Goddammit, I just wanted to do something small and fun with one of my asshole faves who reflects a part of me I don't get to see represented very often.
Just ignore them, your post was very well laid out. I've noticed a certain strain of everything is IDW Optimus fault (hell I got a hate comment on a fic just becuase it was a g1/idw mashup with Optimus). There might that this person thinks criticism of their fav is hate.

I was looking at some really pretty holoform art and thinking about the whole Tailgate Is Literally A Child thing when suddenly my brain was just like ENGAGE THRUSTERS, so: who would be interested in reading meta about how the holoform generator better reflects the psyche, but only in terms of media tropes? Cause, like, I joke a lot about Cyclonus being a kuudere, but then it occurred to me that his holoform reflects the stereotype so well. Because I know a lot of the Autobots at least had a lot of human interaction and exposure to media. I'd have to do some earlier-comics research, but I think it's a theory that's entirely supportable. (Because, like. Humans are a completely alien culture, and media can be a good introduction to social norms, albeit exaggerated! And tbh it seems like something that would occur to the writers as a funny joke.) And if anyone knows of someone else who's already done that, then point the way, please!
Spoiler: RiD 35ish so much annoyance with the history Blackrock is fucking up. Accepted transliteration is "Uruk," not "Urik". I am 90% sure Homo sapiens was not first evolving 8 million years ago (whatever "started evolving" actually means... not a direct path blah blah blah), but I am not a biologist or anthropologist so I can't really put this one up to anything besides "mild annoyance". And okay, the "beginning of civilization" is kind of a wibbly line to draw because "civilization" is a really broad, subjective term... but we have evidence of Egyptian cities older than Uruk. Uruk was by no means the "first city in human history". I am not even going to touch "direct descendant of Gilgamesh". (Gilgamesh didn't even found Uruk, even if we take the Epic as truth!)
