So a friend of mine found a thing that looks like I can use it to basically make a launcher that supports a modpack I create, which means I could maybe maintain a modpack for a Kintsugi minecraft server. I'm sort of looking at Bevo's Tech Pack as a base, and then possibly adding some of the mods Luka's been looking at involving creatures and villages. No GregTech. Greg is an asshole.
yay i am so into this! survival mode pls, i have found that i get bored/frustrated easily when i don't have to earn things.
may i request the following config tweaks: enable oreberry bushes set thaumcraft research to 'easy' (where you buy it with research points rather than having to play the minigame) increase the frequency of tainted lands, because with all those extra biomes we'd never see them otherwise, and i love cleaning them up
ooo i have never had a chance to play modded minecraft but now that i have motivation to figure out how... this sounds fun (i'm assuming the server would be open to all kintsugijin?)
I sorta like the thaumcraft minigame. I will think about the tainted land thing; I do want to have a while before they show up, though, or else I'm gonna die really early on. The plan would be basically that I'd release a launcher that would let you download the right stuff automatically. More details when I have a clue.
i rly hate the research minigame, and i would quite enjoy collecting research points to just buy the technologies.
I have never minecrafted, only jealously observed you guys' minecrafting adventures, but I'd love to use this as an opportunity to learn to minecraft.
I have Minecrafted, but mainly on the Pocket Edition (which is not very fun for me, because I mostly want to tidy up villages and build a zillion houses in survival, which is not as fun without the villagers around, and in PE the villagers wander off, and also don't trade or breed, woe). I've never used mods or played on a server with other people before, but y'all make it sound super fun.
i might actually buy minecraft for this cause you guys have A+ taste in mods and i need to show off my treehouses and big ass towers (or more like just crack an account realistically? money will surely fall into my life)
As the anon who asked about a Kintsugi server on Tumblr, I would like to express excitement for this. I've had fun on group servers with few mods but I'm looking forward to exploring the seebs modded version!

I have a computer that can run Minecraft! It's been a long time. I would love to join in a Kintsugi server where a modpack covers the server's mods. :D I can't join the current server because this is Linux (Suse) and I am a Linux newb who doesn't know how to install mods... It doesn't seem to know how to open zip/jar/etc, at peast not without some terminal shenanigans my roommate typed up and shortcutted for me. Even when I tell it to Open With the archive application Ark, and tell it to do the same with that format, it doesn't remember my setting. :/
I would also happily join a Kintsugi server. :) *reads through proposed mod list* oh there are so many mods here that I like! @seebs, may I humbly request that Witchery be added, if it is not a trouble? also I second the boo GregTech. J and I poked around with it when it first came out, liked the idea well enough, but it was just too damn exhausting.
A Kintsugi server might actually be enough to get me into Minecraft after studiously avoiding it for like 6 years. :B
One thing to consider about the Thaumcraft difficulty is that there are very few reliable guides out there on what to do. I really enjoyed the rune mini-game but I did not enjoy the 3 hours of frustration I spent figuring out what the hell I was looking at and how it matched many of the guides online.
Long story short, there were Events and I haven't had a chance to look more at the custom-launcher-thing because I was busy assembling little plastic army things. Might get to look at it this week?
I really hope this gets off the ground sometime! Lack of people to play with is the second main reason I don't play Minecraft much at all anymore.. the first main reason being 'I get incredibly motion sick' but y'all are worth popping a dramamine pill for. Only mod I'd really really desperately want on there would be something like Mo'creatures.. I like having a goat farm.
