Spoiler Friend's current theory makes use of the split timeline thing. Wherein in one universe Calliope gets her universe creation thing done. In another however Lord English wins and does his universe destruction thing. So in a fashion Lord English was both destroyed and not destroyed. However given bullshit with the stupid chest he can't fuck with the other split. Thing.
and i still pretty much remember the first thing i said when i started homestuck: "so i have to/how do you name the troll?" and the answer i got: "the troll? what? the trolls come in much later" okay this is paraphrased and if i bothered to go looking on my old blog, i could probably find the actual convo, but yeah...

I'm probably going to ollie out of this thread after I say this because for some reason Discourse on writing failures in Homestuck tends to be pretty emotionally draining for me and I suspect there'll be quite a bit, but... Spoiler: *has an Interpretation* Lord English isn't beatable by the normal rules of Paradox Space. So the way to beat him is, in and of itself, to end Homestuck. Homestuck itself is a time-looping construct that creates and ends itself, and the Beta kids finally creating and entering their new universe is in and of itself identical to escaping the juju Caliborn had trapped them in. Lord English destroys Homestuck itself as Calliope creates it, and the kids are finally free.
God damn it, I'm convinced. eta No, seriously, THANK YOU for thinking of that. The more I think about it, the more I like it. That is exactly the kind of meta bullshit that I crave from Homestuck, and it makes me genuinely happy with what we saw.
Another perfect theory: Spoiler senorpacman the reason we got an anti-climactic ending for homestuck is because we didn’t 100% the game. we need to 100% the game to get the true ending with the extra final boss and not the neutral ending. if only john had shat on the desk, we could’ve gotten that extra %
Spoiler My guess is - Caliborn's clock smashing didn't make him immortal, it made it so that any death would be the one that stuck, he was just stupidly hard to kill to begin with. Then Calliope destroyed the Sun, Vriska released a kidlaser, and Calliope's black hole destroyed everything, which killed him REALLY HARD. Though I think I like Tez's meta version better.
So this is basically the "A winner is you. *roll credits*" ending you get if you beat the final boss of Chrono Cross like a normal human being instead of the bizarrely complicated "correct" way? :::PPP
to be honest (I'm not even kidding you I'm 100% serious) the only real hope I had for the ending was for Magnetic Wodka to end up beign critically important. I knew it wasn't gonna be, but I had such hope.
my only thought during the flash were "so homestucks an anime now?" and "can town. they live in... *facepalm*" Spoiler Honestly im happy with this. it might have loose ends, but fuck it. endless amounts of fic possible. just because you dont see someone in the epilogue, doesnt mean theyre dead. we didnt get DEAD screens of them so fuck it. i liked it, i will just write stories in my head about everyone getting through maybe sollux aradia davepeta and vriska getting through a bit late, warm welcomes. fuck it. no confirmed ending means that there arent any canonically denied endings also the can town thing is cute. d'aw specially since WV helped stoke the forge to create it
upd8 considerations aside, I wanna just take a moment to say that I'm super happy I stayed up to wait for the end and that I have all of you guys to share this moment with. I'm super happy <3
