my family has a lot of pets so here are a few of the weirdos in any of our households at any given time:


this is my ima's dog, Miss Piggy and her cat, Maddie. they like to cuddle. (the cat belongs to Missy, not to ima. any attempts to convince the dog otherwise are doomed to failure.)


this is a sideways pic of Peter, ima's other dog. will gladly accept any advice on how to make sure these pics don't end up sideways whenever I upload them, bc nothing I've tried has worked @____@


sideways pic of the two-headed idiot, so named bc they have half a brain between them. they are my dad's dogs, Josie and Alex. Ally is v smart, and manipulative, and more than a little conniving. Josie is cute. and dumb. v v dumb. she regularly forgets how doors work. (the one failing to stick her head out the window bc she's too short is Alex, and the one wondering what's happening why isn't anyone hugging her is Josie)

This is my cat, Nazara (Zara for short). He is named after the antagonist of Mass Effect 1 (more commonly known as Sovereign). He is both a complete and total asshole, and also the cuddliest cat ever. He sleeps most of the day and is fatter than he should be, because we got him from the pound a few years ago and he had been a street cat, un-neutered, up until then - and he was aged at roughly 3-4. So: he never thinks there will ever be food again, and so he scarfs everything down.

95% of the time he is very quiet, just hangs around, will cuddle with you if you sit on the couch or on the floor. ... will cuddle insistently. He is also a fan of headbutting your hand and effectively petting himself.

The remaining 5% of the time occurs at roughly 7am and 4pm, when he realizes he is very hungry and starts meowing to be fed. This used to take the form of sad yowls when he had just moved in with us: it is now pitiful mewls seeking sympathy. He used to also scratch our bedroom door to be fed (I am technically allergic to cats; if he were on our bed I would be very sneezy and itchy), but since we keep tin foil on it he does not do so any longer.

He is very soft with much floof. He always comes to the door to meet us when we get home (at least partially to see if he is going to get fed), and he is very good at knowing when one of us is sad or upset, and he will come headbutt us or climb on our lap and sit. Also he purrs probably like 80% of his life and he purrs loudly. He is a very happy cat, except when he is hungry, and then the world is ending.

EDIT: Oh! I forgot! He is also super dumb. Like ... super dumb. On the order of "you've done this so often over the past three years and you still don't get that it's not gonna do you any good? wow."

This is Newman and he loves blankets.

He especially loves soft fuzzy blankets, like this one. He will knead and purr, although he has very quiet purrs.


His belly is EXTREMELY SOFT and he likes belly rubs, which works out for everyone involved. He is at home while I am in grad school and I miss his belly. ;0;


Newman is an indoor/outdoor kitty, and enjoys sitting in dirty furniture and murdering various rodents and birds. :/


Sometimes he needs a bath. He looks particularly pathetic after a bath.


He plays up the pathetic kitty angle a lot, though. He likes to come in and meow loudly for food, regardless of the amount of food he's eaten that day.


Newman is a quality feline.

 

cat 1/lots: pocket. he is a hurricane Katrina rescue, probably named pocket because he's clingy as hell and probably climbed into a rescuer's pocket. he used to be Psycho Bastard Crazy Cat - he sent my dad to the hospital once - but he's calmed down a lot and now he's a cranky old man. His favorite activities are climbing on people's shoulders and having me put on bird videos and then sitting on the computer keyboard instead of watching them.

He IS kind of judgemental, but he's also woken up by a certain someone (me) so I can take pictures of his cute face, so that might be part of is. XD I have some pictures of him being sweet, but not on my phone.

He is QUITE a cuddler and frequently sleeps on top of people, usually my dad. The cat does not care if Dad is in the middle of a book, it is time for Attention.


Here he's judging me because I stopped scritching his chin so I could take a photo. However, if you look closely, his paw is on my finger. He was giving little squeezes, the worlds tiniest kneading.


Scritching continued, purrs engaged.

Are scaly friends okay on this thread? I have Syd the Bearded Dragon, who is exactly one year and five days old. He is a doofy lizard who liked to climb on my head when he was smol and doesn't understand why he is not allowed now he is less smol. Also you cannot open the vivarium before you open his favourite foods. He will launch himself into the air and scatter bugs everywhere while I try to catch him before the floor does ^^;;;

This is Tiger, who is much better at being a stereotypical cat than her sister. She used to kill a lot when she was outdoors as a young gal - not my choice, my mum's - but now she likes curling up at the foot of my bed and purring a lot better. She's much more aloof than Lupin, and isn't much of a snuggler, but she is quiet and polite and is much more likely yowl to try and stick a paw up your nose in protest than ever do something so rude as to actually use claws. She likes to think that she's The Cat Who Walks By Herself And All Places Are Alike To Her, but I think secretly she likes her humans too much for that.

And this is my dearest and closest and best non-human friend, Lupin. Sometimes I think she is technically not a cat at all, but a couch cushion with the mind of a lap-sized dragon. She mostly sleeps, nowadays, but she used to be quite the kleptomaniac and hoarder - anything small and shiny, she would hide under the sink. Not even play with it, just hoard it like she wanted to heap it all up and sleep in it Smaug-style.

She is also one of the sweetest and most tolerant cats I have ever met, to whit -

(Teenage me didn't have any friend of his own species and thought he was funny, okay XD) From what I've heard, it's very rare to find a kitty who will a) tolerate such shenanigans and b) tolerate human bullshit to the point of allowing actual hugging and crying into her fur while purring.

It's notable to say also that she seems to have a better handle on human diets and behaviour than her sister - the only food presents she ever brought me were, on separate occasions, a slice of apple and a half-eaten crumpet. Much closer to the mark of 'eat food or you'll die, you're a lousy hunter' than the flocks of dead birds Tiger used to slaughter every summer.

I'll really miss her, but at sixteen she's still in good nick, so I'm hoping we at least have another couple of years together.

i kind of want to bury my face in lupin's fur??? she looks like such a dear... with a nice face and good footers. (i hope that tiger is enjoying her retirement :3c)

Edit: i wish that there was some way short of video for me to show you guys how great steve's tail is. it's so poofy, and it flops over onto his back like a skunk tail. but he's always moving when it's flopping so i can never get a good picture of it >:T

they are two Very Large maine coons that belong to my aunt, and they are responsible for my slow descent into Cat Hell. they are also two of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen, and I wish I had better pictures of them!!! madelyn, in particular, is stunning. fergus is the largest cat i have ever seen in person. it's hard to tell from these photos, but he's MASSIVE.

they're both pretty aloof, but they're very cuddly (on their own terms). fergus has tiny, melancholy mews, and madelyn sounds like a sixty year old smoker. they HATE steve, who is half their size and who loves them both.

actually her full, pretentious, Official Name is "Ambercroft's Ruby Tuesday". she's a fancy dog. She was my dog, my baby, for a long time. she had permanent baby-face until she was about 8 years old. She no longer belongs to me :( my mom couldn't take care of her after I moved away, and I couldn't take her with me (I was living in a dorm), so mom found her a wonderful home to live out her golden years in, and all reports indicate that she is very very happy. I miss her a lot, though. <:)

These are my two dogs, Chispa (left) and Pippa (right). Despite looking somewhat similar at first glance, they are entirely unrelated mutts. We got Chispa as a street puppy while visiting relatives in Mexico, and then got Pippa from an (American) shelter several years later.

Chispa is very solemn and interested mainly in smells and exploration. She is an old forest wizard with stumpy legs and a long body.

Pippa is a flighty anxious goober, very high-energy and interested mainly in people. She's only 8 pounds and is easily frightened by large dogs she doesn't know.



Pippa has a ridiculous habit of napping on top of the back of the couch, instead of sleeping on the couch like a reasonable creature.



Neither one appreciates baths very much, but they look endearingly silly when wet.

I love these wise dogs!!!!

 

Yes! She has quite an impressive mustache, whereas Chispa has dramatically sad eyebrows and a good beard.
