Spoiler: exrid17 and later I think Starscream did realize that Metalhawk was his friend, since Metalhawk came back to save him, it's just he wouldn't always be his friend-because Starscream is Starscream, and Metalhawk has a functioning moral compass and a level of personal conviction that would inevitably make him turn on Starscream. And I think that Starscream regrets mostly that when he killed Metalhawk, Metalhawk was still his friend. Which is probably part of why he keeps the dude's corpse in a shrine in his room and talks to it.
Hm. I accidentally made myself really sad about robots (also I love love love the constructicons and I want to ship them in a giant silly pile with prowl (with prowl having no chill and taking himself way too seriously and being outnumbered by a lot of much, much more relaxed mechs) but there are so many of them and shipping five people all at once in one spot is hard and intimidating, especially when you have major trouble telling some of them apart :C )
Spoiler: exrid 17 and onward Ooooh, that also makes for some extra fucked up wartime atrocity morality too. Considering what we see of interpersonal relationships that crossed faction boundaries, things were... not likely to work out well. Given how much death and killing and all that people were dealing with, it's really interesting to think that like. Okay, Starscream recognizes that eventually, Metalhawk will turn on him, which means (in his mind) he'll have to kill Metalhawk. So you see, it's good to kill him now, while they're still friends! This way they can part on good terms and Starscream can remember the friendship they shared! That's how healthy social relationships work, right? (I'm not actually sure that's coherent, many apologies. I am very very tired) Also the preemptive revenge thing is a lot like MTMTE 46, where it's like no, you can't go around punishing wrongdoers before they actually do any wrong, that's not okay. Skewed moral compasses on both sides of the equation, I love it :3c

I might have screwed it up a little but...friendship! Starscream has not had a lot of friends and it's a very unfamiliar thing and I think he's trying very hard to do better with Wheeljack.
OKAY SO Spoiler: jetstream/rotorstorm I think I see a story I really want to write. Probably not porn, for a change, though I could definitely take it that direction if I wanted. Whirl POV, because I have a voice for him and working out a voice for Rotorstorm for this would just be too depressing. Plus this way I can really dig into Whirl's issues, even if he doesn't understand why he's slipping into these toxic patterns with Rotorstorm, and everything is horrible for everyone involved. So like, okay, trying not to talk this to death so I don't use up my energy before I actually do the story. But once Jetstream starts being verbally abusive to Rotorstorm in private, the LSOTW text stuff says that Rotorstorm started with the joking, etc. as a defensive measure. Now, once things turned physically abusive, whaaaaaaat if Rotorstorm realized that hey, sometimes physical affection derails him from the violence. So whenever Jetstream starts getting aggressive, Rotorstorm... yeah. So it could go in a porny direction pretty easily, but consider: what if it went in a super chaste direction instead? Jetstream is fucked up enough by everything at this point that he thinks that oh! This is a healthy relationship! My mentoring is working and my most promising student, he-- he admires me *blushu*. Let's take this nice and slow and really romance each other. And Rotorstorm is honestly just trying to protect himself, but whenever he does that, Jetstream takes it as affirmation that yes, this is good, my methods work and I should keep doing what I'm doing. Until things go too far and he realizes just how bad he done fucked up and how badly he's been fucking up. I need to outline this for myself before I start going, but I think I really need a story about this mess now.

....I would be very interested in another semi-canon annual where the LL crew suddenly has to deal with a bunch of adoring fans and/or humans onboard. All aboard the Rodimus Hugpile Express, choo choo motherfuckers (...why did only 2012 get an "annual"? Aren't annuals supposed to happen... y'know... every year?)
