@WithAnH I'm midway through it and holy shit, my emotions. Spoiler: This kills the Luca " Maybe they should stick together. It’s going to make the neurologist preferences hard to work out, since Hypothetical Phillip and Hypothetical Rain do not live in geographically contiguous regions, but honestly that’s the least of Newt’s problems, because Hermann has always been pretty up front about Newt annoying the crap out of him most of the time, so Newt’s not really sure how this life-partners proposal is going to go. Maybe it will go like: ‘Hey, so could you do me a favor and make sure I don’t destroy the world? Not that I’m worried.’ Maybe it will be: ‘Let’s go the academic route and apply for grant funding together.’ Or possibly he will say: ‘I need a roommate, man, because—yeah, I got nothing.’ Alternatively he could try: 'It’s your professional duty to make sure I’m not in neural continuity with the kaiju anteverse, just as it’s mine to make sure you’re not.’ Worst-case scenario, there’s a good chance that: ‘Please don’t leave me,’ would do the trick. "
Okay I am in full-on making embarrassing noises and flapping my hands mode over this fic, curse you @WithAnH
god damn it you guys have me reading all this drarry and I just keep falling all over it vaguely ashamed but mostly discontent that there isn't more #I like rivalships goddamnit #my second-tier shipping weakness #after 'we used to be best friends and now hate each other'
In retrospect I'm not sure why I didn't rec this earlier. Flowey Is Not A Good Life Coach: incomplete (34k so far), hurts my heart so much and yet I keep reading it. Warnings: physical, psychological, emotional abuse (thanks, Flowey.) Spoiler: blurb Flowey gets bored and decides to change up one of his runs. Papyrus presents an interesting project, for the moment.
Oh man, I read the first two chapters of that and knew I couldn't handle reading it chapter by chapter. I'm holding off until the end, so I can have the full experience without the suspense. Spoiler: Actually I think that's what inspired the idea that I'm trying to work on. There's just something about Flowey toying with Papyrus that pings my Id fix.
Doorway (Pacific Rim). Short and sweet and utterly horrifying. Inspired by a Stephen King story if that's someone's cup of tea. Some implied body horror.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/1944336 middlenglishtowne: a studie of suburbane lyfe slavetohiscat Summary: Towards a translatione of M_Leigh and gyzym's fyne tale of younge monastick lyfe into propere Engleesh, specyifically Chaucerian Engleesh.
This is wholly a summary of my feelings, but also: I want more fic on that idea that Draco got bitten by Greyback instead of Dark Mark'd that goes around tumblr every now and then. JFC I want that so bad. Also more full-series AUs in general. (We should probably transfer to the HP thread from here huh...)
Sansûkh by determamfidd: the late Thorin Oakenshield yells at people from beyond the grave. (After)Life lessons are learned, tempers are lost, and Mahal has second thoughts about some of his children. In fact most the parents featured have second thoughts about some of their children. Also there's a bit of a tussle over, I don't know, a ring or something? But it's not like arguing over jewelry is exactly new to Middle Earth so I don't know why the author spends so much time talking about it.
Hell yeah that fic is so good. I've been following it for a few years now, I catch up every time I swing back through the Tolkien fandom. 10/10, A+ would recommend
@tinyhydra expressed an interest in some gigolas fic recs so here we go :3 Spoiler First off, here are my Gigolas bookmarks on ao3. Out of these the one I gotta recommend most is Sansukh, also recced directly above - it's from the pov of Thorin and has Bagginshield as a primary pairing as well as Gigolas, but regardless I have to say it's one of the best Gigolas and overall LOTR fics I've ever read. Check it out, you will not regret it. Now here are a few which either I've only read part of, or which have been on my to-read list for a while and look particularly enticing from their summaries:
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11800228/1/The-Mendicant-and-the-Maiden my friend's fic Spoiler: context It's a fix it for the end of season 3 of RWBY, that involves a sort of doctor who crossover in that there is a time lord. and it is wonderful. you should read it. //shameless plugging it's wonderful and you should read it.
*brings this thread back because I need to talk about this* The unhealthy ships thread was talking about boring sj points f/f, so I felt the need to bring them (and you) my favorite Buffy/Faith series of all time (probably my favorite Buffy series at all), The Girls In Question. It adds their relationship into the series, ranging from Faith's first appearance to a post-show adventure. It does not skimp on the angst or ignore the evil Faith period, and the post-show bits have good plot and believable "how do I relate to the ex I may still have feelings for after a really horrible breakup" relationship stuff. If you're into Buffy at all, please read it. Please. And join me in having a lot of feelings about it, especially the Faith in prison bits.
okay so i just refound my favorite beta ot4 fic if you ship that, read it. if you like species swaps, definitely read it http://archiveofourown.org/works/260674
Oh god I'm on the sequel now, and it's got Karkat, and he's being a prickly traumatized desperately lonely terrified jerk and it's giving me FEELS, I have to take a break now.
has anyone recced Pony Pals yet? you don't need to know anything about homestuck to enjoy it except for that this total nerd started to deface a copy of Pony Pals for his friend's birthday and ended up getting completely carried away, to the point he started to elaborately reconstruct the whole story. features amazing lines like, "Pawnee came into the office. Her blood ran cold when she saw Anna was alive once more. But not literally cold in the sense of reptiles' blood. She could thermoregulate with the best of them." and "She tried to grab Acorn's halter. But he had had it up to here with her shit and ran along the fence line next to the clinic."
:'D Connect is a really great fic (I say, having gently nudged it to being posted in its completion).
