Bragging, showing off and tutorials, yours or other peoples, go here. http://littlemisscodeless.tumblr.com/post/111277280039/chesire-cat-inspired-nails Some of you know these already, but since they match my title and I´m still proud of them I thought I´d show them again.
Oh dang, those are pretty fantastic. Here's my most recent batch, before they were cleaned and top-coated; they're starting to chip now but I can't bring myself to clean them off and start fresh, oops. The stripe is actually a light pink glitter, you just can't really tell because Lighting
Neat! Stripes are fun. Also for those who dun know how to stripes: You put on one coat of the lighter/sheerer polish and let it dry really well. then cut strips of your prefered width out of tape and tape at you prefered distance and pattern, then paint the other colour over all of it. You can either pull the tape up when your nails are all wet, or all dry, but not in between, that just messes up the polish.
Fidgeting around with gradients tonight-- Sally Hansen "Combustealble" (dark tips) over Nicole/OPI "Mer-Made For Each Other" (iridescent greenish, thus two pictures): Highlight and lowlight. The teal's given me problems before-- it flaked off within a day or two when I used it as a base coat-- but I'm hoping it'll last a little longer when it's not directly on the nail.
I painted mine with all the shades of blue that I own. The effect is kind of subtle and not visible form all angles, but I like it. http://meagenimage.tumblr.com/post/112034639460/all-the-talk-of-nail-painting-on-my-dash-has
This is one of my favorite nail looks, personally. I used Sally Hansen for both coats. InstaDri as the base--I think it was Jade Jump in this pic but I've also used Brisk Blue and the effect was pretty similar--and Sugar Shimmer in Work Of Tart as the top coat. I call them my Mermaid Nails, because my friend said that they looked like the kind of nails a mermaid would have. :D
Emilie Autumn inspired nails! The BG is her book The Asylum For Wayward Victorian Girls. Both black and white stripes and the crossed over heart a strong visual themes with EA (She´s a muscician who does very elaborate concerts) A lot of her songs/story concernes violence and blood, while her stageshows often soften the horror themes with glitter, si here´s glittery bloodsplatter. The bloodsplatter was made after a tutorial by gothiccharmschool. Lastly, especially EAs book but also some of her songs center on recovery and living with/reprairing the damage of abuse and/or mental illness. So, inspired by this site, kintsugi-like repairs to the slashed heart and striped nails.
