Thanatos is highly underrated imo, and the kids of Hypnos shown in canon were pretty cool, so I think even though Thanatos is a 'minor' god, the concept he represents is so universal that Adara could still have some serious firepower.
not necessarily? I think it can work the way it is. just...keeping in mind that there are reasons why Adara may not necessarily feel super close to Nico, although he might consider her closer than she thinks they are. and we might have different timelines in mind--I think things went: trying to get Bianca back/revenge on Percy -> The Last Olympian -> Nico finds Roman camp -> Nico frees Hazel, because he wanted someone to be close to. also, I think Adara being kind of initially like "please stay away from me" when Nico first came back probably damaged their relationship. and Percy probably didn't want to pass the prophecy on to anyone around him, because he doesn't like to see people hurting, especially not because of him. also...if I were to make Adara a daughter of Thanatos, I'd kind of have to change her personality, I think, and at least some of her history. because a daughter of Hades isn't going to have the same fatal flaw or personality as a daughter of Thanatos, imo. and they're not going to smell as strongly, either, which means probably fewer monsters, and probably less time spent at camp and probably less fear of monsters because they'd be less strong ones that were attracted to her. like, sure, she could still pack hella firepower and whatnot, but I'd have to alter who she is.
Spoiler: hn I haven't read any Heroes of Olympus and originally assumed that this wouldn't take much knowledge of the continuity at all? But apparently there's stuff about Nico I should know. So uh. Like who is Hazel. But if I need knowledge of the continuity I can duck out if that would be preferred. I want to play but idk. I thought this was set in a way that meant I didn't need much memory of canon.
Yeah. Okay. I'm not comfortable with taking Poppy that far away from the time line of the novels, but I encourage you guys to do so.
nooo please don't duck out, we're trying to fix this so everyone feels comfortable, that's the whole point
Hazel is his half-sister who he basically smuggled out of the Underworld, after she was dead for a long-ass time.
K. Cool. @Bel Capricorn Spoiler: bluh S'not like rps go any different for me. is apparently still not dealing with stuff. i'm not going to even try if this is going to turn into what happened with riven, even a little. i really, really want to play. but idk because if canon is so important than why am i here?
I just am not. I don't know why, but I'm not, and I probably shouldn't get involved with an active new rp anyway because I'm starting up an internship.
I can rework Adara. ...one question: if Thanatos has a kid, is it going to have wings like he does? because we've never seen a kid of a god with wings and I'm...not sure how that would work....like, are wings a recessive trait? probably?
sure, why not. it can be a fun and painful and confusing experience for Adara. born without wings and then they grow in some time around age thirteen! ...maybe that's the catalyst for her to run off to camp?
Actually we have! Butch is the son of Iris, and he doesn't have wings, but that doesn't mean Adara can't.
oh yeah, I forgot he existed. ...I totally want Adara to grow in wings at like age thirteen and then be like "fuck"
Also. Spoiler: Potential songs for Adara? Spoiler: Lyrics Drawn into the frost on the glass was a map pointing to my secret hiding place It led you to the tree with the split in its trunk on the way into your family's yard In that tree you saw I brought the dog back to life I watch you from the branches while you stared from the ground with a look I couldn't understand So I said "leave me alone, if your only words are ugly ones" And you just smiled and said "come and show me how it's done" You dug up your old bird, and you held her to your chest as I breathed life back into her lungs And she blinked and flapped her wings, and she sang a familiar song Before she took to the air and cut a path into the woods And then I cried, because all my life I have known something was off But you just shrugged and said: "it ain't just you" Slipping on the pavement where we ran from the ghosts that you saw behind the cellar door That's the way that you showed me that I wasn't quite alone That you'd also touched the dead before Spoiler: Lyrics I saw your daughter yesterday as I was idle on the porch she slept-walked from your house down the walkway as though she'd done it all before and the moon was out and in her gown beside the riverbed she got down on her knees and wrapped her long hair up in vines, and leaves, and branches and with the wind beneath her feet oh, she waltzed with the dead and everything was bathed in light white as milk as the impossible began she danced across the water's edge but her feet, they didn't sink as though she flew I ran out in the water with a lantern in my hand I was waste deep and shivering I took her wrist and walked her in I was loathe to interrupt her but I had to get her home if people were to see this, they'd gather up, raise hell and burn her alive don't you mind, don't you mind she'll be fine tie a bell around her ankle before she lays down at night and the sound of her footsteps will wake me in time don't you mind, don't you mind I'll watch over her as though she were mine
