My first idea for an OC was basically Blue Rodimus (or as I called him, "Nodimus Nime, the actor formerly known as Not Rod") but I'm actually tossing around some ideas for an actual OC now. Admittedly, most of those ideas are "jets are hot but so are sports cars, fuck, which one is hotter" but at least they aren't repaints of sonic characters canon transformers.
I mean Nichrome would be girl!Brainstorm minus the pining gay crush but that isn't the fault of recoloring that's simply because in her other canons this character is a mad as fuck bomb maker. on the otehr hand I could make Nichrome A Guy But Not (aka they get fram alterations to look like a femme bot after the war and contact with colonies is restored) and have her be like stuffed full of explosives. Maybe she got herself altered to K-Con voluntarily as a gesture of devotion to the Decepticon cause and then never got deployed bc she's much more useful when she developes Things Which Go Boom Messily.
Plant alt-modes aren't a thing we've seen yet, afaik. That doesn't mean they never existed. (Delicious, delicious pre-war worldbuilding...) Giant rainbow plants would probably look out-of-place on most planets and therefore be useless for surveillance and/or subterfuge, and standing still is... a good way to die in combat? (Also, functionists would probably have argued that plant alt-mdoes were useless unless they were, like. Photosynthesizing energon or some shit. And just because we only saw entire alt-mode classes being wiped out in the "bad" timeline, doesn't mean it didn't happen in the "main" timeline...) I am all over weird alt-modes tho. ...what if. What if Censere's flowers are modeled on some ancient friend who actually turned into a flower and died in the war. ((unless this can be disproved, I am shoving it into the headcanon box and you can't stop me.))
OKAY BUT WHAT IF THEY ALTERED HER ALTMODE BUT WITHOUT HER KNOWING MADE IT SO SHE COULDN'T GO OFF. Because she is Useful and also has a tendency to do stupid self-sacraficing shit and needs to be protected from herself
At the very least, plant alt-modes would probably fail the ambus test. Because the ambus test is shit and so are the Functionnists. On the other hand that has a lot of potential for interesting dynamics both within pre-war Cybertron and in the interplay between Autobot/Decipticon and the post-war reality where everyone has alt-modes at least partially for war unless they were NAILs.

mine is named Treble and she is Jazz and Prowl's sparkling if I'm playing in TFP verse. She's a mini bot with doorwing and I might have made her and Smokescreen twins. My other is Chrona who is pretty much a cybertronian protocol droid.
