"Lavender is nice," Larkspur said. "I think there's actually a recipe for lavender lemon cake floating around the Demeter cabin, somewhere. I'll ask about it!"
"Oooh, that would be awesome!! Cake is great. And lavender lemon sounds like an amazing combination." Adara grinned, then trotted towards the Thanatos table in the lunch area. "C'mon, Auden, Jack, you two are sitting with us, right?"
Larkspur made her way to the table, and briefly waved at her siblings over at her own table. Then, she flopped down into the seat.
Jack tore their eyes away from Auden and turned to Adara. "Yeah, of course - if it's okay with Auden? Auden, you're fine with that, right?"
Adara giggled a bit as Auden grabbed Jack's hand. That was cute. They were cute. And if she wasn't mistaken, Jack already had a huge crush. Which she was definitely going to tease him about later, even if it got her teased in return about her crush on Lark, which it almost certainly would. She flopped down into her seat, and waited for the wood nymphs to deliver the food to their table. They knew exactly what she would want, given that she pretty much always ate the same thing. Her goblet instantly filled itself with lemon water, something she'd absolutely loved since she was a little kid. "So..." she said, struggling to think of something to say to Larkspur. "Um. What other books have you read? I mean, have you read the rest of Tamora Pierce's books?"
"Oh, definitely! Well, almost all of them, I haven't got the Beka Cooper ones yet." Larkspur took a sip of her soda.
"Ooooh, the first Beka Cooper one was so good. I have it! Do you want to borrow it? We could do, like, a little book exchange! I don't have the others just yet--I'm working on getting my hands on them--but the first one was really, really excellent. Beka's amazing," Adara gushed. Then she flushed a bit. "....she may also have been my first-ever crush. Her and Aly from the Trickster's Choice series. They were just so cool. Cool people are my weakness."
"You're making my body temperature increase. It's weird. Is this what regular people feel like? Should I shut up now? I'm going to shut up."
"A book exchange sounds great. I can lend you the first Circle of Magic, it's called Sandry's Book." Larkspur giggled slightly. "Cool people are a good weakness. I had a crush on Rosethorn, from Circle of Magic. You'll...probably see why."
"Oh gosh, I can't wait!" Adara grinned. "We can get a little book exchange going and then we can chat about the books and stuff! You'll...probably really like Beka. She's incredible. I can't wait to read Sandry's Book!" She thought for a minute, then asked, "So...do you watch many shows? I mean, I know we're not allowed phones and stuff, but I kinda have a way to watch TV. I think most of us do. It's not like the TVs are the same as cell phones, they don't send out the same signal." Cell phones were likely to attract monsters--but TVs and laptops were generally fine. Of course, there wasn't any wifi, but still.
"I haven't really been watching much tv." There had been some unfortunate incidents in the Demeter cabin, regarding laptops, some spiderplants, and a good deal of water. Technology had been temporarily banned, at least until the cabin was a little bit less crowded and damp. Most books in the cabin were currently being kept in plastic tubs or something, anything to keep them from molding terribly.
"Yes, exactly! Well--really they're Gems, but they are lesbians, there are actually two small lesbians who fuse into a bigger lesbian, basically, and that's Garnet and she's so cool and--wait, I'm getting ahead of myself. What I meant to say was, um, would you maybe want to, um, come over and watch it sometime?" Adara asked, a bit anxious, shuffling her wings again as she waited for a response. "I mean--it's fine if you're not into kids' cartoons, but it's really cute and fun and interesting, so, if you wanted to..."
"Yay!!" Adara exclaimed, before realizing she'd practically shouted, and blushing. "Um, I mean, that sounds good! That would be awesome."
