Larkspur had to laugh a bit. Adara was so HAPPY about this, it was sweet. Hopefully the show was as as good as she said. "Good! We should get popcorn for this, too. Gotta have popcorn for binge watching stuff."
"Ooooh, yeah, definitely!! I might have some in my cabin?" Adara wondered, thinking to herself. "But then again, I might've used it all last time I had a movie marathon...well, we can almost definitely get more!"
"True." Adara giggled. "It just seems like it's always hard to get stuff from Dionysus. He's always so grumpy about requests for stuff from the outside..."
"Yeah... But, I mean-" Larkspur leaned close to Adara, and said quietly, "That's what sneaking out, and friends in the Hermes cabin are for, right?"
Adara hesitated. "I...I wouldn't really know," she said softly. "I've never snuck out, ever. And...not many people here are my friends. It's, um, it's just Jack!" She forced a smile, trying to behave as though the people avoiding her around camp didn't bother her.
"Sneaking out isn't really as hard as people think. You just gotta go when everyone's distracted. A lot of the time me and my siblings will go during capture the flag, since no one expects Demeter kids to do anything during it." Larkspur fought down the urge to give Adara a spontaneous hug. She didn't have many friends? Why? She was so sweet, and cute, and friendly! That was ridiculous. "Well, I mean, I'm your friend now! And you can always hang out with me and the rest of the cabin, and if they say anything bad, I'll yell at them." Wait, Larkspur thought, what if she thinks I wasn't flirting with her? Crap.
Adara smiled slightly. "Yeah...thanks." At least she had one more friend...but did that mean Lark wasn't interested in her? ...probably not. Friends...sure. She sighed. "Friends. I'm glad we're friends. And your cabin's always been pretty nice to me, actually! A couple of the kids aren't so friendly, but Kira was really helpful when I wanted some flowers for the outside of my cabin..." She was silent for a minute, then said softly, "No one really ever expects me to do anything during capture the flag either--they think my powers are too 'creepy' for helping to capture the flag without freaking people out, so maybe next time you and I could sneak out?"
"Yeah, she is," Adara agreed with a smile. "Kira's always so helpful and she's really sweet. She makes me feel so...comfortable." Adara noted the change from what she assumed had been 'love' to 'like', but didn't question it, just nodded. "Okay! Then the next capture the flag, we'll do that! It's...tomorrow, isn't it?" She frowned. She always had trouble remembering when capture the flag was, and what day of the week it was.
"yeah, she-she is." Oh gods, Larkspur thought, what if she has a crush on Kira? There's no way I'd have ANY chance. "Yeah, tomorrow," she said, "Sneaking out then sounds good. It's a date!" Wait. Crap. "Uh. I mean, um."
"Yeah...Kira's a good person." Not as cute as you, though. Adara giggled. "I know what you mean. It's not, like, a date-date, I assume." She was silent for a moment, then blurted out, "Well. I mean. Unless you want it to be. Do you want it to be?" Then she blushed bright pink, realizing what she'd just said. "I-I mean it's not like it has to be if you don't want it to be and you probably just like me as a friend anyway and that's totally cool and I'm fine with us just being friends and so it definitely doesn't have to be a date and you probably don't want that anyway and you were just using that to mean like that it's a thing we're gonna do, not a date-date where you go because you want to potentially be in a relationship with the other person and...uh....and I'll shut up now." She realized she'd started babbling again, like she always did when she was nervous, and, forgetting the others at the table for a second, dropped her head on the table with a groan. "I'm an idiot."
"nononono, I'd really enjoy it being a date-date. I'd totally be up for that! That sounds like a wonderful idea!" Larkspur was blushing terribly. Her entire face was red, and her hands were flailing. "You aren't an idiot!" She promptly covered her burning face with her hands.
Adara slowly raised her head to look at Lark. "Wait, really?" She hadn't totally fucked this up? She grinned, her cheeks still pink, but clearly happy rather than embarrassed. "That would be the best!! I-if you really want to, that is. I'd love it!"
"Really! It'd be a lot of fun!" Lark was still covering her face, because she was still blushing. So much.
"YES!" Adara hopped out of her seat and hopped into the air, flapping her wings and doing a loop in the sky. Then she blushed as she looked down and realized she was gathering attention from the rest of the camp. "Um." She cleared her throat. "Sorry, everyone." She slowly sank back to the ground and settled back into her seat, cheeks bright pink. "So. Um. Anyway. I would. Really like that. S-so...it's a date, then?" She looked at Lark, and giggled a bit when she finally noticed the other girl covering her face. "....you're cute." Then she blushed even deeper pink as she realized what she'd said, and slowly lowered her head back down onto the table.
Adara lifted her head and blushed, her whole face and the back of her neck now bright pink. "Nooooo. You are way cuter."
"Nooooooooooooooooooooo," Adara said, smiling a bit at the conversation. "It's definitely you. Way cuter. The most adorable."
