Wouldn't the original founders of the American school have left Europe to get away from the old wizarding society? In early years, they might have been aggressively inclusive towards marginalized wizards until their own hierarchy emerged and settled.
wait... aggressively inclusive... sounds vaguely like tumblr. could it be that in their attempt to be unlike the English they made it inclusive for queers and minorities and everything but excluded majorities/non queers? this sounds awful
I don't think so? "Aggressive inclusion" back then would be "barely progressive" by modern standards. Fifty years ahead of the rest of the world in terms of accepting Irish and other lower-class wizards, but everyone else is still screwed.
I'm imagining having a stereotypical sweet but out of touch and kinda bigoted grandma as a teacher. Just this little old lady who has not figured out that she's offending her students and is the topic of so many magic tumblr rants.
Does this mean that American magic schools are compatible with technology? I'm not quite sure I like that. Could there be a magic bulletin board with similar functions?
It was originally intended to serve as a medium for school-wide announcements, but American students an innovative lot and subtly hijacked it for their own purposes.
the bulletin was usually in one place. then copies were made and people can update and such. so magic tumblr. (Others can expand on idea)
How would pictures get on there? I'm imagining like enchanted versions of the old disposable cameras or something.
according to book 4 magic moving photos are developed using a potion... a similar thing or a spell that copies it? i'd like to headcanon this as a very word based culture though
the younger teachers are former students. i feel like a lot of people who attend find themselves with a sudden desire to never leave.
