starting with just one sounds reasonable to me. i think having a character thread would be a good idea. i feel like knowing the basics of each other's characters would help with brainstorming plots/starting set-ups/how the different characters meet.
kk will do! shall i also ask people to give a... rating level they're willing to rp? er. like for instance, i'm not up for rping porny stuff, but i can do violent scenarios. that sort of thing. that way if people are deciding who to rp with they'll know better who will work for them and who might not. (i mean, obvs people can renegotiate later as needed, but as a baseline it'd be helpful. especially considering what sorta stuff routinely goes down on Insect Baby Hell Planet....)
I think that could be helpful. (Oh Insect Baby Hell Planet. 80% violence, 20% romantic drama, 100% horrorshow)
Ok to recap, We´re doing an Adults in Space and a Sgrub Session game, right? And we´ve yet to decide whether to use the godteirrpg system for the Session or go free form. Also how would people feel about setting the adults in space game on a space station? Gives a location for characters to meet and plenty of room for a lot of different kinds of people.
Re starting positions: maybe we can start with an Ascension Day scenario. That way we can have them knock around a little and get sorted out if we want.
Sounds fine to me too! I want to play a janitor, so as long as he has a place to stand and a mop to hold I am happy.
okay, i made the character intro thread! as for adults-in-space setting, space station sounds like a potentially good option. ascension day could be neat, but i personally was hoping for established adults rather than youngsters starting out.
Also, just remembered, @littlemissCodeless , was the make up artist partner idea a serious idea? Cause that could be fun.
Option: Space station either is or has a training facility for younsters who have just ascended? There´s be plenty of room for established adults as staff, especially if the station has other functions as well.
Yes, it was. I´m not quite settled on how much me the char will be, but they can still be a makeup artist.
Um, as someone who hasn't forum-rped in, like, 6 years at least, can I ask the silly question of "how, exactly, would this go down?" It would be a group thread right? Or would there be a hub thread and...?
oooh if we're on a space station and there are multiple medically themed trolls can we have a chapter of med bay drama? pleeease. it is my weakness. it was all I could do not to write this post in all caps.
Weeeeell, in my non-sgrub timeline I do have Kumari getting willingly heisted out by her friends for space pirate adventures, so I could see her getting unwillingly heisted out, too.
Good question. Once you get past 3-4 people playing together, the party tends to split. If we all use the same thread, we'll want some way to keep track of who's where. One solution is like you said, a hub OOC thread, and a different IC thread for different locations. That way people who are together don't mistakenly reply to people who are nowhere near them. Effective in a small setting, but a big setting could quickly fill up the subforum. We could get around that by asking seebs/Jesse to make a sub-subforum for any game that get busy enough to need more than a few threads. Another solution is for us to write a little spoiler summary at the top of /all/ our posts, not just the gore/sex ones. List off who/where/when as quick bullet points. It helps us all keep track of who we can immediately interact with, and who would take travel time... I'm sure there are other solutions, but it's been a while since I forum rped too. Any suggestions?
