Yeah, Tarantulas was always a Mad Scientist of the sinister, creepy type. I mean, so the Predacons in Beast Wars were at least initially all reptiles and insects, so the manipulative, crafty one was obviously going to be a spider: builds traps, common phobia. Fast forward to now, IDW needed an Evil Mad Scientist, and they've already used most of the non-giant-spider ones. Now the fact that arachnophobia is present becomes a boon, because SotW is partially a horror comic, of the emotional-boundary-violation type rather than the physical-violence type. So yeah, I think that the choice of Tarantulas for the villain was, given the goals of the comic, a good choice, although it does cut down on the potential readership, but that's the choice every horror comic has to make.
In other news - started These Games We Play after finishing my second final this afternoon. Am currently on chapter 13. Has surpassed my wildest expectations. Third final is due in two days and I have to pack all my stuff to move home soon, but I'm thriving, my crops have been watered, my skin is clearing, Jazz is being a delightful little shit, everything is good in the world

Does my heart good :') Also I'm about 18 chapters deep into my third reread of TGWP, and I only properly started it a few days ago, but I can't help myself, and adfsddsss I'm busy trying to figure out whether by the time I finish catching flights and driving two hours to get back home, whether I'll be too tired to draw giant robots tonight (ps I'm going to shamelessly link pixels to some of the wireplay sections, for potential use in sexy jadehal shenanigans)
