    well, at least someone understands.
I tried to express this to my friend and he was like "I don't get it."

@chaoticArbiter yeah, no, I really don't think I have. can't remember having any sort of, like, out-of-body experience or whatever. I forget about myself when I'm reading or watching something sometimes, but that's about it. and lord knows I'm not mentally healthy, so. idk, I suppose it's one of the few unpleasant psychological experiences I've managed to avoid. :P

it's just impressive to me that anyone can manage to go without dissociating all the time. I'm not sure how to explain it.

I got, like, 8, and that' s probably only that high because I can zone out due to ADHD sometimes.

I wouldn't say that I experience anything that I would call close to what DID seems to describe as its symptoms, so it odds me out that I'd rank so highly. I'm pretty sure my head's just, you know. Me.

Edit: To be clear - I answered the questions honestly as someone who is sometimes detached from situations around them, has the rare burst of proficiency, suffers frequent memory lapses (my memory is notoriously horrendous), and mumbles to themselves basically any time people aren't looking trying to keep one thing or the other straight...or just derisively comment on something, because, Iunno, I've always liked doing that.

    Pretty sure that's not DID.

I mean, there are other dissociative disorders besides DID, so you could have one of those? but you wouldn't necessarily know if you had DID anyway--there are signs, but they're usually there from the time you're very young. you have to form DID by age nine or it's not gonna happen, so to me, everything about having it seemed 100% normal and I didn't even realize what was going on for....eighteen years.

weird behavior that leaves false positives is entirely possible! I doubt you have DID, honestly, if you don't hear voices associated with talking to yourself. it is possible you have another dissociative disorder, like derealization/depersonalization disorder, but it's also entirely possible it's just weird behavior that leaves false positives.

    30. Definitely don't have DID, periodically dissociate and have a really godawful memory.

well, again, I don't really do anything to keep myself from dissociating. but thanks anyway, I guess. :P

I'm thinking cA might mean more "amazed" than "impressed"?

    They're similar

I got a 52, but I've been dissociating a lot more lately for more C-PTSD reasons than anything so I wouldn't call it a new diagnosis.

yeah, I suppose! I think of "impressed" as, like, "impressed that you did something," and "amazed" as "amazed that something happened," but I can see how other people would parse those a bit differently.

Yeah, I had no trouble parsing "impressed" in the way I assume cA meant it but I can see where the confusion is coming from

Also, it's very unlikely I have DID, as the score of 51 seems to imply. The only lost time I've ever experienced was related to extreme sleep deprivation and, while I talk to people in my head, they're my characters and I'm pretty sure I have full control over them.

I guess I probably have some kind of dissociation thing, because I do dissociate at times, but most of my score is coming from previous unhealthy sleep habits, ADHD, and being an author.

yes, this. this is what I meant. :P

yeah, those things could definitely lend to your score being up there. and I'm not sure that it necessarily always means you have DID if you get a high score--just that you have dissociative experiences and are more likely to be suffering from DID or a similar dissociative disorder.
the only reason I would auto-assume my score means DID is because....well, I have the diagnosis. :P
