That's a very good way of putting it, actually. They're called Gems. I don't see Pearl or Amethyst or Steven--who is an organic/Gem hybrid--around here, but I bet Watermelon Tourmaline isn't far...

 

They can naturally project this hard light? That must be very useful! How well can they adapt the shape?

 

...Alchemist Prime? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that one. I know Camella and Geber and Bruno and Flamel and Alizariel and Telessary...

 

However we like, once we're taught. Amethyst turns into a cat and an owl and all sorts of things all the time. I mostly just modify my shape in order to fit into or through things, but Amethyst is very talented that way!

Ah, let me give you the short version.

Primus is the creator of all life on Cybertron. When he created cybertronians, the first thirteen he made were the Thirteen Primes. Alchemist Prime was one of them, smart, curious, fun-loving, and levelheaded. When Megatronus betrayed his sparkmate Solus Prime and the Thirteen Tribes followed their Primes into civil war, our species was almost wiped out entirely.

The solution settled on was that the Primes would take their tribes and metrotitans to the stars, forming colonies far away from each other to maintain peace. Alchemist Prime and Alpha Trion stayed behind to help heal the planet, then Alchemist Prime left with his tribe and founded Prion, while Alpha Trion's tribe repopulated Cybertron.

 

Oh, that's amazing! Even the most modular cybertronian can only change... mmm, I heard of a medic that could take 4 different alt-modes, but the base form was quite similar. And of course, it's nothing to do with talent, for us. It's merely whatever form we end up settling in after sparking.

 

So is Alchemist Prime related to Optimus Prime...? Was Megatronus Megatron? I have so many questions!

So...Alchemist Prime was the first alchemist? Is this history, a religious teaching, or both?

Optimus Prime, formerly Orion Pax, and Megatron are the leaders of the two sides of Cybertron's recent brutal civil war. My own research into the causes and course of events of the war is preliminary, and I can't make any determination yet as to 'sides', but Orion took the Prime title as a rank, and Megatron...

...possibly a coincidence? Will research more.

 

Well, yes, I suppose I do. Still... *sighs* It does rankle that those clunky robots are better at it than I am.
