...yeah, now that I think back, she just acts happy when she's given amethyst. But the first time, he gave her a fire quartz because she'd just said something about having a dream about her left hand turning into a giant dragon...? And he was like, y'know what, that was really weird, take this crystal: and then: ....Abigail, no, why do u eat rocks... I'm gonna buy this game and romance this weirdo
I will say this: if it was initially a bug, it is one where the creator has embraced it enough where similar comments/jokes come up in her improved post-marriage conversation ("You're going to the mines? Remember to bring me back something tasty!" and considering I don't think she likes cave carrots, that's kind of hilarious)
I wasn't going to buy it... I really wasn't... I don't have a lot of cash right now... ten marriage prospects? All ten? Regardless of gender? Sweet redhead who just wants to settle down and start a family? Where? Where is she? Can I bring her flowers? What's this game doing in my downloads folder
....oh no, they need me to do this through steam? my steam account has been broken for a year. alrighty then EDIT: life hacks, if you every have to change one email and purge another, think of every single thing you've signed up for on the internet and change your official email there before you've purged the old one. think REALLY HARD to make sure you've gotten everything. otherwise you'll try literally dozens of permutations of your password frantically as you try to get steam to remember you because you can't reset a password with a dead email in any case got it > : 3
/// bisexual issues /// this beautiful hair beach man... this sad trailer-dwelling apology lady.... this pretty purple-hair sass lady.... this emo basement dweller man..... this lovely valley girl stereotype with hidden heart....... this modest, mature doctor........ WHAT DO I DO. IM OVERWHELM
So, apparently, there is a place other than my automatic inventory/backpack/bar of items I always carry with me that I can put things to store them. Whatever that is it was never announced to me and I don't know where that is/how to access it and I feel REALLY dumb. Help?
If you go to the "craft things" menu you can make a chest with 50 pieces of wood. Put that down anywhere in the world (your house, on the farm, in town, anywhere) and you can use it to store items.
Be aware that if you place a chest outside of your farm it runs the risk of going poof if it's in the way of NPC pathing. They break stuff that's in their way.
Chests can also be destroyed by creeping weeds. What I did is put all my chests on the grass around my shipping box.
I think putting them on flooring can prevent that, but I'm not 100% certain. The places debris can never spawn are always safe, though!
Post-launch progress update blog! Who's hyped? I'm hyped. (I am totally starting a new game when New Stuff comes out.)
I AM SO HYPE FOR MULTIPLAYER. We should make a Kintsugi farm team! Edit: Though I realise this isn't a 1.1 thing (I think?), it's the one thing I am super hype for.
I have now officially played more Stardew Valley than I have Dragon Age Origins. Save me. ((this makes, I think, the only game I've played more LoZ Twilight Princess. jfc)) Spoiler: both spoilery and non-spoilery game events I've married Penny, restored the community center (GET HIM PIERRE), actually gotten at least a bit down into the Skull Caves (honestly fuck that place I am so bad at combat, actually gotten some god damned sprinklers so I don't have to spend every bit of energy on watering my plants, got a bunch of animals and named them after hamilton characters so i could make a stupid joke to my gf, am currently running around with more money than I know what to do with, today I tried to get a start on cooking cause I want the complete the collection thing i will do this, and next year I might even plan my farm out before I plant things so everything doesn't get all cramped and narrow. Whew. Spoiler: specifically for lewis' friendship cutscenes[/SPOILER also mayor lewis pls what are you doing with that truffle oil. mayor lewis. pls. (sidenote: i picked i'd tell everyone bc there was no other way to signal that hey guys you're being ridiculous, probably no one would judge you, stop being miserable and hidey, buuuuut they got rly mad at me rip) speaking of nothing at all, sorry if someone's linked this already, but have you guys seen the dewmitrius mod ? (also, question: white chicken eggs. how. how do i get a chicken who will lay white eggs. is that random?? is there a trick to it?? have i accidentally been buying the wrong kind of chickens??)
White chickens lay white eggs, brown chickens lay brown. Video game logic! Which you get from Marnie when you buy one is random, though. I know how you feel about the Lewis thing. YOU'RE TOO GOOD FOR HIM, MARNIE! marry me instead
Are sprinklers supposed to be hard to get? My farm watered itself by the start of year 2. But, I mean. i did get an iridium pickaxe before i got a copper hoe, so. I have stockpiled about 50 Iron bars and 70 gold. I might not be doing this whole farming sim thing right.
I seem to just have really bad luck when it comes to getting iridium, alas. The 10 star event with Elliot made me squeak with delight.
I'm playing this game As Slowly And Stupidly As I Want, Thanks and watering everything by hand and not achieving everything and doing things the long way because honestly, min-maxing or trying to do things The Most Effective Way stresses me out. I get tut-tutted enough irl for not being neurotypical enough to just... jump onto new ways of doing things and immediately abandon the old way which worked but might have been slightly slower. that's what I like about games like Stardew, I can just be slow and pick up advancements slowly, or not at all. ...so I got one sprinkler when the Apple Friends gave it to me and didn't even think of making more. I forget to use it usually. The watering can, it works fine, I spend more time hanging around with the farm animals and my lovely wife. ...that said, I married Penny damn fast, didn't I >u< We were married on the day of the egg festival in year two, which, by the way, I thought was not possible (to get married on a festival day)
See, I feel anxious about spending too long watering and not meeting townspeople, but also anxious about leaving plants unwatered, so the sprinklers are a godsend to me. On an unrelated note, I was on an Ancillary Justice kick when I started this game, so the animal names on my farm are Radch-themed. Then I found out that you can give multiple animals the same name. Now all my chickens are named Anaander.
