*laughs* Not 'cause he believes it makes him sound super cool?

'Cause, honestly, I was sure that he'd picked the name himself in an attempt to increase his coolness points. Maybe not a successful attempt but yeah...

Killing stars sounds like a waste of resources. Harvest the stars.

...which may actually be killing them slowly. Hm. Point considered.

...hm. Recent activity aside, can't say would be a bad match? Silverweave good at hiding, hunting. Would make a solid ally. Personally don't trust him that much, but.

    Need contact? Distraction?

Ford and I didn't even think we could have children together until...well, until we met Steven, actually. And we never even thought about adopting kids until we ended up with Dipper and Mabel and Oneira and Loreli and Chroma during the Weirdmageddon. But we were family. He became fully a part of my family.

If you married two people and were committed to them but they weren't committed to one another ... you'd spend a lot of time feeling like you were split down the middle, I'd think.

I'm not saying that Papyrus and Sunshine would have to be lovers and neither is Ford, but they would have to both be committed to making a family bond with you and with each other, because three people can agree to put each other first in all things, but one person can't make two separate agreements with two different people to put each other first in all things.

There have been societies in which one person could marry multiple people without them being committed to each other but those have almost always been societies in which only powerful people could do it and are usually societies where one gender dominates all the other ones. And even in those situations, bigamy and polygamy that are not polyamoury lead to lots of internal family politicking that isn't fun.

even polyamoury Leads to internal politicking sometimes!

...to Be fair, my current situation Is somewhat complicated and slightly more Related to the nonideal of "i'm Committed to them but they're only tangentially Committed to each other" situation. but it's also... Working? so far, anyway!

*sighs* But... I don't think Sunshine would wanna put Pap first. Not really.

And I don't wanna force to him to. I don't wanna make him obligated to someone he doesn't even like.

I can't bear the idea of losing Pap either, though... Or Sunshine...

Norm, I think someone needs to just make sticker they put on you that says "You've trapped yourself in a hypothetical situation, calm down."

(I would volunteer Sunshine to have the stickers, but then I have more omniscience in this thread than I should.)

You might remember that Ford and my mother weren't initially too thrilled about being related.

I believe her exact words were, "Stanford is not a nice boy, Valiska. I taught you most of what you know and if he made a deal like this and he isn’t rich as a result of it, he can’t be as intelligent as you think he is. If you’re going to moon over a dark adept, pick a competent one!"

*frowns* But, Valiska and Ford are both really convinced that this is how it works out in that kind of marriage... And well, what'd I know about marriage? They're the experts here.

I'm a genie. I've never been married, never had the chance to make that commitment to someone. And I really don't wanna screw if up.

*sighs* Too bad Sunshine likes you more than he likes Pap. Wouldn't have expected that to be a problem, but... I guess it is, now.
Well, yeah, but... your mom... that's different. Different levels of contact and different expectations for both the relationships. I mean, I get the impression that moms are supposed to eventually let go of their kids, let the kids make their own way in their world without them by their side. That once kids grow up, putting their mom first in all things is no longer a thing they do.
Ugh... that's one way to think about it.

And I think it bothers Sunshine, getting along with Pap and sharing me.
