    Oh? That's rather unusual.

It'd be pretty bad if I had blood.

    I'm mechanoid.

    Ah?

That is most unusual. I'd deem it impossible honestly, but I suppose that I am in no place to be making such judgments. After all, the moon has yet to budge even the barest of an inch where I am.

Lengthened day/night cycle from what Rom is accustomed to? Not all planets function on the same timeframe. Or geosynchronus orbit, though that is... significantly less likely, I think?

    Ah.

That is not a possibility I had considered, honestly. Which is to say I've not considered that I might possibly be on another planet entirely. Wherever I am it appears that the bulk of people speak the same language as I. Their grammar and vocabulary seem to be oddly restricted, however. Robotic even? You commonly find messages such as "Oh, elderly. Therefore, beware of wheelchair" or "Pincer attack ahead. Therefore, remember rally."

'Robotic' vague qualifier-- multiple sapient mechanoid species, all with individual languages and communication patterns.

[New information] [qualifier] [old information] perfectly coherent sentence structure, but... that two languages should be close enough for you to parse words, if not trammar, is odd. Perhaps, like this communication-space, all words are translated for convenience by unknown third party?

Hmm. Interesting. If not for mentioned beast-overrun, would like to investigate!

Well, the vocal speech is spot on with what I am familiar with. Which makes it even more curious. That these written messages are often so limited, whereas the townsfolk themselves speak fluently if casually. Perhaps it could be a matter of translation, though.

There are more problems than simply the beasts, as well. I have in fact been assaulted by the so-called "despicable wheelchair" more than once. Along with seemingly maddened townspeople. They appear entirely human in appearance but they act with violent panic towards anything that dares move. They also don't appear capable of distinguishing between humans and the beasts, given their reactions to myself.

Very interesting! ...not interesting enough to be physically present, but. Would be grateful for any information Rom is willing to share!

...first thought is something hallucinatory. Holofield, virus, poison, something. Is Rom sure all "beasts" they see are, in fact, beasts and not other similarly-affected travelers? Also, clarify "despicable wheelchair"?

I certainly intend to keep jotting down my findings and reactions. Wouldn't be in the academic spirit if I did not, after all. I digress.

"Despicable wheelchair" is how some of the notes I have found describe certain disabled old men. Said old men are most certainly despicable, prone as they are to shooting at one while cackling maniacally.

As far as hallucinations go, that is definitely possible. If it is a hallucination it is not the sort I am accustomed to. My head is clear. The typical mental fog associated with the visions She sends isn't at all there. The She here referring to a being I have taken to calling Ebrietas, for the heavy feeling of inebriation She leaves when She contacts me. She appears to be one of the Great Ones, a god left behind on our plane. Her presence is entirely lacking at the moment. I find it distressing that my friend is not here seemingly. Or perhaps She has lost track of me.

Gratitude. Unfamiliar with degradation of organic processors with age-- assumption: behavior unusual? DWs unable to be reasoned with?

Hallucinogen theory only, not enough data for conclusion and certainly no proof. Illusion maybe? Or alternate universe, or spacetime anomaly, or any number of things. Too many variables, not enough concrete data.

Condolences on lost friend. Personal opinion: being alone is awful, especially in hostile territory. May your sparks lead you back together.

DWs appear to be unable to be reasoned with, yes. At the very least I am not going to risk it again. I had thought that the one rolling towards me was positively responding to my surrender but that wasn't the case. He had been moving to me to kill me from behind my hiding place. Despicable, indeed.

Gods beyond there are many things this could be. Illusions would also be a sensible explanation. As would be alternate universes or spacetime anomalies. Who knows what this is! Certainly not I.

Fair. Certainly not going to tell you to try again In The Name Of Kemst or whatever, would just be stupid. Data collection not worth personal safety.

    Limitless possibilities =]

Unsure of Rom's resources or indeed the mechanisms of unfamiliar territory, or would offer tests. ...Am also not a physicist, though. Linguistics not much use in determining physical qualities of surroundings. Apologies.

The attempt to help is appreciated. As is simply speaking with me. Writing really? This is unusual. Communicating.

As far as resources go I have a gun, loaded with quicksilver bullets, the notebook I am writing in, and seven vials of the blood the townsfolk carry. I've not used any of the blood, and I don't intend to. I will continue fearing the old blood.

...for documentation purposes, personally am not speaking. Display words on visor in Neocybex (well. Currently Neocybex. Can display in several languages), something odd happens, translated into symbols others present in this... meetingspace can parse. In Rom's case, apparently, into words in Rom's journal, in Rom's native(?) language? An interesting phenomenon, but see also: not a theoretician.

Ordinarily would say attempt to analyze blood, but obviously is not going to work well if Rom has nothing but their innate senses! Physical contact likely unwise...

...if Rom removes blood-vials from personal subspace (...pockets? Crate? However Rom is carrying resources), does Rom still see beasts, or aggression from other apparent-humanoids?

I am writing my native language, yes, into what is now my journal.

As far as the blood goes, I was seeing these creatures and aggressive individuals prior to my gathering the blood. It is positively everywhere. There are crates full of large jugs of the stuff. People are carrying small vials with needles on their persons. I have found a few bottles filled with an unusually pungent mix of blood and some other fluid. Given the bottles this blood is in it appears to be meant to drunk in this fashion. There are also small chunks of blood similar to those that we have taken to calling blood shards. They are related to smaller blood gems. The hard crystalline remains of blood seem to have special properties, though the academy has not made much work into it. If etched into tools for example the properties of the tools are altered. A knife can be made blunt or fiery and a hammer can be made sharp like a knife.

Also further research of the notes has revealed that the city I am in may be Yharnam. Which is a name that is very familiar to me, though I can't recall why. There's a significance to it that is slipping my mind at the moment.

Hm. Energon is both fuel and circulatory fluid for mechanoid life, but believe this is not true of humans? Also energon alone, even solid-state energon, cannot imbue a nonsentient tool with any sort of power. (Besides power of being tasty, but. That is not the intent here I think.) Back to "not enough equipment for tests". =[
(... @Jetski what is smiley for anger/annoyance? Sad Smiley is not quite wanted here.)

Have never heard the name before, but the multiverse is large place. Unsurprising. If significance of "Yharnam" is remembered, please share!

"There's places out there where blood is utilized in sorcery. The places in which sorcery has an actual effect on the surrounding world, it even works, maybe Rom is in a place like that."

Sorcery is simply a fanciful name for scientific processes that we do not understand. If the blood is behind this then there is surely a logic behind it. There is one behind smithing with blood, after all. It's no more sorcery than runesmithing is, though instead of inscribing the voices of the Great Ones in runes of power to imprint on your mind, you are inscribing blood upon tools to imbue them with power. Blood has many interesting properties where I am from.
