Things that are currently annoying you

Last week the afternoon manager asked me to fill in a shift for somebody. I said yeah!

Today he called to doublecheck that I'm coming. I don't wanna call him back, I just wanna go to work.......

 

Text? E.g. "sorry I wasn't able to take your call, just confirming that I'm working this afternoon."

 

Office landlines alas. I just gotta grab my headphones and make it quick.

Apparently today I am 'accident-prone'... Woke up with a headache, ended the workday with a slip and thud at the bottom of the stairs onto my left hip, to which my spine said "THANKS BRO lemme just spread that shock up the column for ya" and now my head hurts a lot more. @_@ ice pack, Tylenol, and not a whole lot of light for me this evening. But that means I am boooooooorrrrrrred. sigh

 

I said something that somebody pointed out could potentially have unfortunate implications and now I feel horrible even though I still don't think it... was that bad? But on the other hand I don't exactly have firsthand experience with the thing I might have put my foot in, so what if my feeling that way is me being a clueless asshole?

 

don't feel horrible about that. saying things with unintentional potential unfortunate implications is something that everyone does at some time or another. it doesn't make you a bad person, it just means you (might've) made a mistake.

 

Yeah, and I know that intellectually, it just kinda sucks because I was enjoying this thing and now it's being polluted by knowing I made somebody uncomfortable. (tl;dr, daemon AU post, there was a character I gave a tamarin, she's one of several characters who's a fantasy ethnic group which, while not exactly parallel to any real-world group, is not white. I was just thinking about personality and the fact that hands with opposable thumbs would be helpful for de-scruffing someone's extremely scruffy tiny owl.)

 

while it making someone uncomfortable isn't really good, your logic for choosing the daemon's form was good and i don't think it would be a big problem if you kept it like that. like, you really didn't mess up badly here and i doubt you could've easily expected them to be bothered by it. (like, yeah, i know the monkey thing does have unfortunate implications when it comes to pocs, but i don't think those are the type which would be on the front of most people's minds.)

 

Yeah, and I know that, but anon was apparently bothered enough to bring it up, and ~obviously~ I should think of everything and never do anything that anyone else could possibly be less than satisfied by. :::PPP (And I mean, I still can't... think of another animal I think fits as well. The one said anon liked for her struck me as "picked out of a hat at random" bizarre.)

 

yep, you should keep the daemon you chose. trying to think of everything and never do anything people aren't completely pleased with does not go well.

 

Yeah, and I usually don't have problems with constantly trying to, I just generally feel horrible whenever someone seems upset with me over something where I feel like they have at least sorta-legit reasons to be upset. (e.g. anon nastiness from people mad about my post about Star Wars "REY IS SUCH A MARY SUE!!!" wank? They get pictures of bunnies with pancakes on their heads and I laugh about it. I might have said something with very tangential awkward racial implications? I feel terrible even though I know if it happened to somebody else I'd tell the OP I thought they were fine.)

IN UNRELATED NEWS, I kind of want to kick whoever wrote the instructions for my state's online campaign finance filing system. It requires that I arrange the fields on spreadsheets I'm uploading in a specific order... and nowhere in the instructions does it say what that is. It provides sample files... with no column headers, making them largely useless. What do the first three fields that read "1,"",1000" refer to? WHO KNOWS.

UPDATE: Their BRILLIANTLY PROGRAMMED software says nothing but "Validation failed" if it doesn't like your file. It's like a crappy compiler.

 

Update update: I discovered it was rejecting my file because I'd written "TRUE" in a boolean field instead of "True." (It had previously rejected it because I wrote "1" for "true", because that's how it handles every other boolean field.) Jesus Christ on a pogo stick, the command-line C++ programs I wrote in CS101 had more robust input functionality than this. >_<

i wasnt specific enough with my hairdresser today and didnt feel assertive enough to ask her "hey what's that?" when she brought out the mousse, then the hairspray, and proceeded to make my otherwise acceptable (not super great, bc like i said i was vague and she sort of approximated what i wanted) haircut stiff and crunchy and gross bleh bleh bleh. now i'm home and i have to wash my hair for the second time today and thats probably not good for it. [bristles like an offended cat]

 

I KNOW I HATE HOW HAIRDRESSERS PUT STUFF IN YOUR HAIR WHEN THEYRE DONE

now I just have to go home and take a shower thx

 

@blue i mean, they usually ask if i want any, and she sorta did? she asked if i use product and i was like, "well sorta, i have this stuff thats looser than wax but i forget what its called" and then she went with hairspray and mousse and i was just sort of resigned and didnt want to be rude by saying "what's that, i don't want much in it" and then the hairspray, at which point i was just making faces because noooo this is not my aesthetic

 

yeah, I'm being sort of over dramatic- usually the hairdresser I go to gets really excited about how she could style my hair and then I cannot deny her. :P

edit: i just don't get why anybody likes hairspray, though.
