"Ah, terminology. The Qhori definition of 'sorcery' was something along the lines of using your mind and an assortment of symbols to channel the ambient power saturating the world into new shapes, or channeling it to rearrange matter. An umbrella term of sorts, without much mysticism attached to it.", you reply. "What kind of properties does blood have, where you are from, if I may ask?"

Ah, that makes sense. At the academy "sorcery" is a useless fluff term. At any rate, enough of that.

Blood comes in various "qualities", I suppose we can say. You have our human blood, for example. Human blood, like the Old Blood, coagulates. As it does, material in the blood crystalizes to form gems or stones. Stones are more general purpose and can be ground into tools to increase their effectiveness. A hammer that has had blood stones etched into hits with a greater kick, for example. The gems meanwhile are more specified. Some that I have worked with seem to spark flames quite easily. I have been able to make a hammer that can reliably start fires if you strike it against another object, as an example. This holds for all blood.

The Old Blood as we call it is far more interesting though. We have found offering bowls filled to the brim with such blood that has not coagulated in the slightest. That the blood doesn't thicken and harden is rather unusual. We've found no way to force it to coagulate either. The blood has proved useful in our further investigations of the labyrinth, as well. We're not certain as to how exactly, but through ritual offerings one is able to unlock other portions of the labyrinth. Or at least we are not certain as to how these rituals facilitate this. We have something of a grasp on the procedure, however. This sort of Old Blood we have deemed "ritual blood", there are other varieties of blood. Some of the Old Blood does crystallize and some still appears to have a regenerative effect to it. A rather stark regenerative effect. To imbibe the blood is risky, however, given what we have found in the labyrinths. While the blood makes us what we are and while it has the potential to strengthen us, it appears to have the potential to twist and end us.

Only in Town, Pap, only in Town. (And one place that is not Town but eerily like Town.)

*devilish grin* And speaking of that... I would like to see an x-ray of you. That, and/or send you one of mine.

(Now you've described x-ray's like that, goddammit, I'm not sure whether I'm hoping to break a bone or not to break a bone. *sighs* That's what happens when you get silly crushes on doctors, Pap. That's what happens.)

...W-WOWIE, DO YOU THINK... YOU'D WANT TO TAKE AN X-RAY? AND... SEND ME COOL, NUDE PICS???

(WELL, PEOPLE WHO AREN'T SKELETONS... PROBABLY DON'T SEE BARE BONES THE SAME WAY. BUT I'LL GLADLY LOOK! PLEASE DON'T BREAK A BONE.)

An update on my present situation: While the streets may be filled with murderous cityfolk and blood crazed beasts, Yharnam is rife with samples. Perhaps it is due to their apparent dangerous experimentation with the blood, but there is a plethora of partially evolved individuals. I have at present extracted a total of three eyes on the inside. I've also gathered a few heads which I will examine shortly. Unfortunately, I cannot gather as many samples as I'd like due to my housing circumstances. Which is to say I lack a permanent residence, safe or no. As such I am limited to what I can carry in my satchel.

I... don't actually have an x-ray machine. That's honestly kind of barbaric. If anyone broke a bone, I'd check it out with my omniscanner before fixing it. Sorry to... burst your bubble, there?

*laughs* It sure is. And that's what makes it so cool.

*smirks* Yep, I have. But nude pics are still special. And portable, can't forget about portable. You can look at them anywhere, as long as no one else is looking over your shoulder - which isn't a thing you can do with an actual physical real person.

*grins* And yeah, yeah, I do. I really do! If I didn't, well, I wouldn't have brought it up like that, you know?
    .... Well, uh, okay...

I guess that bubble was doomed to burst, anyway. At least the... silly crush on you part was.

The giving Pap x-ray selfies part?

Hmmm... yeah, I could do that. I'm magic, you know...

I've nothing to preserve the samples in either. Drat. These will spoil quickly. I suppose every boon needs its downside. What I would not give for formaldehyde. Perhaps there is an academy or hospital I could raid for some.

Ask @Call me Sev for the formaldehyde. He's a doctor.

That would necessitate me finding him first. Assuming he is in the same world as I am. It appears that none of you come from the same one that I do.

Ah, right. You're communicating in some sorta book, yeah?

You're not actually in the infinite void space a lot of us are in, you're just texting to it.

  17. Rom of Byrgenwerth

Rom of Byrgenwerth Proud Scholar of Stars

    A notebook I found, yes.

At any rate, "infinite void space"? Could you clarify? I've an interest in such things given the nature of my research.

  18. Norm the Genie

Norm the Genie The All-Powerful Genie (Thief of Breath)|18+

It's just a void, really... An infinite void that we can edit to our liking, and that can connect to other non-void things.

And it gives me lots of sweet meta knowledge. If I wanted to, I could tell you what the most likely thing to happen next in the long-term progression of me and Pap's relationship is, for example. Or what my symbol on the Cipher Wheel is.

  19. Rom of Byrgenwerth

Rom of Byrgenwerth Proud Scholar of Stars

I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by Cipher Wheel. At any rate, this void of yours sounds fascinating. Truly. Being just a void perhaps doesn't sound like much, but the ability to alter your surroundings as you please and to contact those outside of it is. Well, to be frank it is part of what my school has been searching for.

You don't at all speak like the evolved beings I'm accustomed to, however. You use words, for one. The Great Ones are more vast, oppressive sounds and images. Ebrietas speaks as waves and foam, and through the most intriguing lights in the sky. Her voice is clearer in my dreams, where it alters the dream to convey what she desires. She still doesn't have words, human words, but the dream architecture, the objects and people within it, those are words. In a manner of speaking. They're beautiful and I can't describe them adequately. It's frustrating.

*laughs* Great One? Nah, I'm no Great One. I'm just a genie. Just Norm the Genie.

But... look! I can do images too! Hah!
