Weird quirks about you?

unknownanonymous i am inimitable, i am an original|18+

i wear hoodies pretty much all the time, even in bed and in summer. something about having the hood on my head is really reassuring to me.

everything to do with me and food is basically one gigantic quirk.

i like to have at least five pillows in my bed: one for my head, one to go on top of me, and one on each side to stop me from falling out of my bed. (yeah, falling out of bed probably isn't that likely but i'm scared of it anyway.) and i like to have multiple blankets.

maybe, i always thought it was just some kind of brainweird.
if it is, i wonder if the song and this one other trigger in particular that i inexplicably have (but is too heavy to be posted here) are also related

same here, although i'm pretty sure that was a result of the pattern my sleep paralysis hallucinations followed before i started lucid dreaming around age 5 or something
same here, even if it gets really hot, i need to have some kind of hood and a pair of headphones on me so i can tune out the world when it starts to overload me
same here, for reasons also related to the hallucinations

    !!!!!!!!

    YEAH

you have to eat candy properly..... i always need to have the same amount of every colour so it's upsetting when there are, say, ~9 of every colour of skittle, except maybe 2 purple ones. so it's wrong the whole time until i get down to 2 of all of them >:(

OUCH. I don't even have OCD, I don't know why I do it.

Also not taking shoes off when entering a building. Since most markets were open aired and stalls, it didn't bother me until I came to the US. Desperately fight the urge to take my shoes off when entering stores here. Everything is freakishly pretty.

Sometimes the effort makes me break out in boiling hives.

    Gods that's rough.

Also habit wise I am so fucked up when it comes to shoes on or off in buildings at times. The wires just get crossed at times and brain just fucks up. And that's when you end up in the wat with your shoes on staring down the mae chi going oh fuck.

I have a flat spot on the back of my skull that ends in a dull spike on the bottom; makes me think I hit my head when I was really young. The spike makes resting my head on hard surfaces, such as the subpar headrests on long-range buses, very uncomfortable.

As a child I was very spice-intolerant. Then some time in college I got fed up with that and ate a bunch of jalapenos, and now I have abnormally high spice tolerance.
I am very bad with dry, moisture absorbing food, though.

One of my college roommates had been in marching band in high school and told me that post-marching band folk tend to synchronize their gaits with whoever they're walking with.
Long story short, my walking gait is quite irregular now.

i'm the same way with bruno mars. i have a feeling if i ever met him and talked to him normally it wouldn't be a problem, but ever since i was younger every time i hear him singing it panics me really bad. i'm talking sobbing, curled fists, violent rocking, the works. pretty much the same reaction i have to fire alarms, just this overwhelming urge to STOP THE NOISE AT ALL COSTS.:mystery:

same! i do this because of the feel and also because the rocks are usually colder than my face and it feels wonderful. i sometimes have to stop myself from going full ham and sticking the rock in my mouth.

When I look straight at someone, I'm slightly crosseyed, so I tend to look up and sideways. Then people think I'm flirting. D: (But, I mean, come on, I'm 4'10" and something centimeters, so I look up to the average American 12 yrs old. I sure as fuck am NOT flirting there.)

Or insincere, since looking someone in the eye in my culture is aggression and I really don't want to get into a fight. (Meeting eyes being rude seems to be an Asian thing.)

i would like to add an unfortunate note to this post: since i had skittles on my mind when i went to walmart like an hour ago, my impulsive ADHD ass bought a
    god
    damn
    1.16 kg bag of skittles

    just because it was there

    edit: additional note:
i can stick my entire hand in it. it's awesome

I climb things when I'm drunk like a cat. I find the highest stable surface and lounge all over it, usually while propositioning my darling s/o who tolerates me getting white girl drunk.

I perch in chairs and never sit facing forward if possible. I also draw, type, and read with everything at an angle. Sometimes I have to skew and rotate my art in Photoshop because of this.

I have misophonia pretty bad, especially with whiny tones. Country is bad, but there's a particular tone a lot of sad indie boy singers hits that sends me into instant rage. I once punched my dashboard so hard I broke my radio and blacked out until the sound was gone.

Also my skin stretches and I can fold myself into spaces to small for most children. Loose joints ftw?

I sit cross-legged a lot - not lotus style, more criss-cross-applesauce. This is easy for me because I am very short (4'10"), which in itself may be a reason I sit cross-legged so often; when you're 4'10", sitting normally in most chairs leaves your feet dangling, or at least not fully touching the floor.

Ditto on the inability to tolerate carbonated drinks - they all just taste like burning to me. Anything fizzing, sparkling, or bubbling is bad news for my mouth.

When I doodle, 85% of my doodling is eyeballs.

I love watching thunderstorms - around a month ago, I was on a ~12-hr bus ride, and around midnight we drove through a gigantic thunderstorm, and since I had a window seat I ended up just staring out the window, watching for lightning and listening to Hamilton.

Sometimes I hold my fingers so that my fingertips all line up. It's like my brain thinks my fingers should all be the same length. (Not my thumbs though.)

Last one - whenever I read stuff online, I highlight the paragraphs as I read them, and it satisfies my brain when the highlighted area makes a symmetrical shape, and is also an even number of lines. This xkcd comic partially explains it. (This is also a big part of why I hate FF.net: you can't fucking highlight and that makes my brain upset. (Except I think you can highlight on mobile FF.net. Weird.)

I actually highlight paragraphs too, but really spontaneously and unhighlight over and over again quickly
its something to keep my hand distracted while reading mind distracting stuff

SAME!!!!! it helps me concentrate and gives me something to do with my hands, because ADHD

i end up accidentally clicking 'reply' or 'quote' so often on kintsugi, cause i highlight everything WHOOPS

Hmm, I hadn't thought about the "gives me something to do with my hands" angle, but that may apply to me too, considering that when I'm not highlighting I'm occupying my fingers with a phone game I use primarily for occupying my hands....

SAME THO the number of times i have clicked "+Quote" while highlighting on mobile is probably in the hundreds

+1 to the ADHD fidgety-tappy highlighting-while-reading thing, which I also think helps me keep my place in things like fic, where the whole screen is fulla text. taptaptap-swipe, taptaptaptap-swipe, taptaptap

another weird thing about me: I tend to like, sarcastically gasp? like if someone says something that's not actually that shocking, sometimes i'll be like exaggerated gasp as if i can't believe that my brother got a caramel frappucino or something. sarcastically acknowledge a thing. has led to at least a couple misunderstandings.

and i have an exaggerated cute-voice slash baby-talk voice for when i see cute animals which includes making the vowels weird, so cat = kyat or catte or ket etc. "o gwoodness, a kay-uht :3 whatta gwood cayut."

edit: improved transcription of ridiculous cutevoice
