I love Sunless Sea, but my current computer won't play it. I'm going to be so lost when I get back into it, bleeh. My poor captain! I'm still on my first captain, and have been for like, 2o in-game hours. I've definitely... done some shit and seen some shit.
They have needs, Erica! Squiddy, squiddy needs. Can't remember how you get the modification but there's a wiki!
but...! so do i! alas, i don't think i'm ready to give up my chances of being a dubiously respectable member of society for the sake of that sweet interspecies coitus. farewell, my rubbery friend. may we meet again.
I gave up my chances of being a dubiously respectable member of society by putting on a softcore pornographic musical for the Imperial Court. Worth it!
@Erica Date a devil? They're secretly all magical, sapient bees in paper people-suits. I'm not joking. Some of them are a lot of bees in paper people-suits.
on it. (one wrote me a letter. i intend to reply.) .....also i feel like at least one of the things being said here should go into the out of context quotes thread but i can't for the life of me decide which thing because it's all so delightfully bizarre
One of my problems with Fallen London is the lore is excellent but so spread-out it can be hard to make the connections between, say, beheading a devil in Fallen London and seeing a single bee fly out of their neck before getting so confused you don't remember what happens next, and touching the arm of a friendly deviless in Sunless Sea to find it's literally buzzing. I mean, once you lay out all the evidence for 'the devils are bees trolling the Church' it's rock-solid, but. Man. Still blows my mind. Do they even do anything with the souls?
how did they manage to steal my soul? how did one of them flirt with me for months, with probable boning, and not lose the disguise? wtf, bees, seriously didn't know that
I'm gonna direct you guys to Saint Arthur, an excellent blog that compiles lore info for Fallen London. I've realized so many things thanks to them. With cited evidence! Link to loreposts tag.
Also Saint Arthur keeps people updated on whether Seeking the Name is still closed... which it is, sob. It's been years and I'm still angry about missing out on it. fuck I love Mr. Eaten, the whole thing was excellent
That's why I made multiple accounts, thinking I could sacrifice one, even though that's not quite the spirit of the thing. I was so ready to do it I love him! he's so great! I wish my computer could handle Sunless Sea so I could see all the Seekerish stuff there
There's so much seekerish stuff. There's an entire island of seekers. There's a blasted, ruined temple where gods have been killed. There's NORTH. There's something in the well of Hunter's Keep, which is probably unrelated to Mr. Eaten but still a thematic link.
fuck, I want to see all of that sooo badly but even at its best my laptop slowed Sunless Sea down to a crawl. and if I tried now it'd probably explode. think I tried to go North, from what little I played, but it wasn't finished (and then an iceberg ate me, if I remember right)? that was before a bunch of updates.
someday! someday I can have as much (fictional) cannibalism and mutiny as my vicious little heart desires! (my Sunless Sea strategy was to basically waste captains by sending them to certain death at corners of the sea, just to fill out the map a little more. I went through like half a dozen at least, including the one I sacrificed to the Dawn Machine)
