OKAY SO basically the fandom consensus from what I've seen is that Trines are the most efficient and most common ways for Seekers to bond. There's a few different ways that people work out chains of command in Trines, but generally you've got the leader, and then a second and third. Usually, there's sex/interfacing involved, tho I personally headcanon that not all Trines are sexual in nature and some are formed for combat purposes in the middle of wars and such. This just came across my dash today and - Megatron says "now is not the time." Which implies that some other time would be entirely within the realm of reason. With enough planning and both of them putting aside time in their busy schedules, it is entirely conceivable that Megatron and Ultra Magnus have weekly mutual hug sessions, in a private room where no one will see it happen. It is very stiff and awkward. Ultra Magnus is not entirely sure it's within regulations. This all means that Ultra Magnus gives Megatron the first hug of his life and he's not entirely sure how to feel about that. Maybe he'll add it to his resume
