Can't say I didn't partially see something like this coming, still somewhat of a slap in the face though.
Yeah. No wonder the fight with Cinder was so... /agressively writes fanfic I might even do one with Jaune somehow causing Pyrrha's death.
So what your telling me, is that the fight with Yang WASN'T ORIGINALLY SUPPOSE TO HAVE HER LOOSE HER ARM!!!!
I don't know if she was supposed to lose her arm or not, but she wouldn't have been one-shotted right out of the gate.
So in the interest of, not quite balance, but analysis, here and here are some people, probably not associated with RoosterTeeth, looking at Newville's letter and considering what they can glean from tone and phrasing and trying to look at it from the point of view of a company. Spoiler They bring up a bunch of good points about team dynamic, although I am not equipped to say whether Newville is being unreasonable there or not. There are some points about Sheena being unable to give input on the production that I can see being warranted from the standpoint of a corporation. Maybe it wasn't RT's fault; FullScreen apparently had a lot of influence and maybe it's their fault. I don't know. The discussion of Newville's own attitude toward Monty is interesting in that it might indicate some biases and perhaps even unreliability in his description of events, but as always in these cases corroboration would be necessary to draw any conclusions. RT probably can't issue any sort of rebuttal to this, or even comment on it formally. Sheena may or may not comment. Anyway, as a viewer who doesn't talk to the RT community, the problems I've had with RWBY have all been with the writing and that has been an issue in various ways since volume 1, although what kind of issues I've had with it expanded steadily over the following two seasons, in particular the worldbuilding. Since none of us have access to Monty's notes, I can't tell if I would have been happier if they stuck closer to Monty's original vision, but I can tell that I get unhappier with how volume 3 turned out the more I think about it. But I was unhappy with a bunch of how Volumes 1 and 2 were structured and a bunch of the characterization in volume 2, so Monty's passing can't be blamed for everything. I don't know. I'm unhappy with a lot about RWBY in general, and I'm not sure if this issue really clears anything up for me.
*slides in, as a RWBY fan who isn't really in the fandom much* I feel like it's impossible to make any kind of judgement on this as an outsider. I hope everything can be sorted out at least
Personally I have really loved season 3, and have decided to wait for further info? Because its not like all the characterizations got borked. And tbh all this has just given me more drive to write fanfic
arrives late to the party please do that last one also I'm still pissed Yang got one-shotted right out of the gate but I just generally didn't like volume 3 because YOU FUCKING MURDERED MY FAVORITE CHARACTER! (you = RT)
I have now finished watching all two volumes. Too bad they apparently couldn't make a third one, especially since they clearly planned to. And who knows, maybe it could have been good.
Spoiler: Mostly finished fanart Totally not how it went down, but I really wanted to do something with pieta imagery
@Bel Capricorn It's a theme that pops up in classical art a lot, the virgin mary cradling jesus's body Spoiler: Michaelangelo's version is the one I always think of
