@Kaylotta Yep yep. :D And sign me up for those HoloLenses, I have actually just about had enough of putting my glasses down somewhere dumb and not being able to find them for hours ... or days....

@emythos I don't know what this theory is about but I'm listening!

we'd have to get luka's ok on this, and i don't want to ask him rn because i had a hell of a time getting him to quit minecrafting and fantroll, and if i distract him now he'll probably throw his iced coffee on me. but i really like the idea of jesse the farmer and luka the vast derp being jaeger pilots together when the big guns are needed. drift compatible kismesises. possibly actual brothers? sibling rivalry? idk, i should probably go focus on fantrolling too but this is pretty great.

basically we piss each other off because we're so alike. also, there's a certain level of assholery you can only do to someone you're really close to.

like, say you're on a road trip with your best bro, and you've been driving all day and you're exhausted, and you go to a motel and they fall asleep first and they snore. do you:

    1. put your pillow over your head and try to ignore it?
    2. gently wake them up partway every time the snoring starts?
    3. find their snoring as soothing as the gentlest music?
    4. shout IF I AIN'T SLEEPING AIN'T NOBODY SLEEPING and shove them off the bed, initiating a pillow/tickle/noogie fight that lasts until you're both basically unable to move, then fall asleep in a tangled pile, no longer giving a flying fuck about any noise below jet takeoff decibels?
if you chose #4, congratulations! you are drift compatible rivals!

The broadcast was amazing I loved it. (if people wanna rp like a quick fast paced thing, I can do a Skype group or set up an irc channel, I don't do well with forum style rp)

    Speculative Notes about Kintsugian planets:

The Moon of Kintsugi (that is, the moon upon which space Kintsugi is set) has a single small moon and a close association with a number of the other moons of the gas giant it orbits. I kinda want to start talking about orbital resonances here, but let's say that Kintpiter (the gas giant, someone think of a better name) is several times larger than Jupiter (as is usual, Jupiter's pretty small), probably pushing its size into the Brown Dwarf range. It'd probably be magenta-ish in colour (as is typical for brown dwarfs), and be many, many times bigger than the moon is in Earth's sky.

The problem with having such a massive planet so close is the IO problem, and we'd have some pretty impressively horrendous tides, and maybe some nasty radiation. With luck, an atmosphere with some sort of ozone layer and magnetosphere would block the worst of that kind of thing, and normal squishy human life would be sustainable on the surface.

    For reference:

    and (at night)

At some point in the distant past, some manner of advanced extraterrestrial civilisation colonised the Kintsystem, and laid down all manner of scary huge artificial things all over. Space stations large enough to contain skies full of roiling clouds, gigantic geometric etchings into the surfaces of some of the planets, marvels of ancient magic and science driven by gigantic, spider web-like dark energy collectors on the cold fringes of the system.

In time, though, even the greatest empires must fall. The great works were abandoned, and in time the last of the self-repairing systems fell into dormancy, waiting for the return of long-dead masters, and the Kintsystem kept on turning through the rest of galactic history until some pioneers came. They trod on the surfaces of long-abandoned moons, saw the ruined cities caked in the dust of ages, the ancient empty space stations, the non-functional stargates from before the dawn of modern galactic civilisation. Building a home for themselves in the derelict systems of a civilisation so old, the legends had faded. An abandoned system, full of broken artifice and dust, shattered million-acre fields of identical black monoliths, overgrown space habitats full of twelve million years of life evolved in zero gravity, slowly shifting lakes of antique nanomachines, eagerly devouring anything in their path.

The main settlement is on one of the larger moons of a gas giant orbiting a binary star. According to some of the residents, the nature of the "binary system" is somewhat hilarious. There are five other planets in the system, and a large number of mo0ns, dotted all over with the workings of the predecessors.

They named it Kintsugi, because it was broken once, and it is the act of being repaired that makes it beautiful.

@Snitchanon i looked at your tumblr post of the planet drawings and was like, "what if kintpiter was named Plenet (or Plenets, though that sounds a bit too plural)?"

I can also try to do some voice acting! I'm just rubbish at accents so everyone will be Australian. (Although I sometimes get told I sound Canadian which is odd but okay.)

Giving the local planets silly names sounds like a very Kintsuigan thing.

    @Snitchanon yep.
and Plenet sounds vaguely classical/fancy (like, greek or latin, that type of thing) even though it's not, which is cool. :D like, people'll be like, "this gas giant has such a beautiful name" and in response, kintsugjins will be like, "lol nope it's just 'planet' with an 'e' instead of an 'a.'" that may be just me, though, haha.
