Erskin being so CONFUSED about Whitey is kind of really adorable. "My lusus has a lusus?! WTF, oh wait he's not my lusus he's a troll" And then later, "MUST PROTECT TINY LUSUS...who is actually another troll wtf." Whitey being lusus-ish in return is equally adorable and I have to keep reminding myself that Whitey is actually a drug dealing crimelord.
I think it was something that happened on Whitey's tumblr RP? something about his quadrant being helmed so he induced lususness in himself with mad science.

Spoiler: who the hell is whitey other way around. his matesprit was a mad scientist and induced lususness in whitey and a couple of their friends so they could evade ascension. but then the matesprit was taken by a black market helmsman cartel and made into a cyborg shipwright due to his flesh-healing psi ability, and whitey took his crime syndicate to space, the better to eventually reclaim said matesprit.
Spoiler: omg Whitey and Erskin are so freaking high right now. It's hilarious. But also kind of alarming.
it would be EXTREMELY pretty, and i think trolls would have a really difficult time, culturally and maybe even biologically, relating to each other in such an intimate and vulnerable way outside the red and pale quadrants. erskin's developing relationship with whitey as a troll could be considered really flush. but trolls and lusii are probably almost always nonsexual. so the instincts that drive erskin to put so much trust in whitey and get so close and want his approval and protection so much, also totally turn him off. of course, lainey herself would be perfectly delighted to watch them go at it, as her preferences definitely skew towards slim pretty boys.

if there was ever some kind of temporary gender swap, bel might get a little insulted at how erskin goes from 'you're objectively a handsome guy' to 'HELLO HI YES WE'RE NOT LEAVING YOUR QUARTERS FOR A WEEK'. then again, he might be flattered at how erskin's still really devoted even when he's not quite erskin's type. who he is as a person clearly matters most. it'd just be nice if who he is as a person included bigger rumblespheres. for bel's part, i suspect he'd like erskin to be a bit more willowy, instead of just a guy on the scrappy side of average. 'not continually fucked up in the face' could also be nice.
