Some Characters Walk Into A Bar, Pan Fandom RP II (OOC)

I mean. Nanoha-verse has a few issues (the main one of which is that the minimum age you need to enroll in military boot camp is 13 and depending on circumstances kids even younger than that can be involved in operations, though I blame this on various cultural shenanigans) but all things considered it seems like everyone, at least everyone on a TSAB world, is taken care of, and their criminal justice system almost always places a high priority on rehabilitating criminals and not just punishing them. Plus they've figured out clean energy and every member of the police can use nonlethal force much easier than in real life, because magic!

 

I've never really looked into any Nanoha stuff before.
All I'd heard is "magical girl show where the defeat=friendship thing is even more explosive than normal"

It's one of my first fandoms, so it's got a special place in my heart. It's idealistic - a place where, yeah, you're going to have hard times, but everyone you meet, even if you disagree with them, is going to have their own reasons and think they're doing the right thing, and that, even if someone doesn't at first seem like a normal person, if they think and feel then they're just as much a person as anyone else, and that you should give people a chance to heal and work to make amends after they do wrong. And that's stuck with me! And everything about the worldbuilding I like, because the heroine doesn't stop being magic once she gets older - she finishes school and goes off to be a magical police officer and make a difference in the world! And just aspects of how, like, the main religion in the universe is explicitly said to be incredibly accepting of everyone, and the aforementioned focus on rehabilitation of criminals... it's nice.

There are some sketchy elements, because the ancestor to Nanoha was a hentai game, and that can be clear at times (skip the transformation sequences, just a word of warning. The only good part of them is seeing the weapons come together. Luckily they usually show up once a season, as memory serves.) But, overall, I'm still incredibly fond of it.

 

That sounds really nice. I think I'll put it on the list.

Oh, and since no one guessed - the theme with the names was cars. Nearly every character in the series is named after a car of some sort! I'm not sure why, but it's neat.

Also a bonus: Lesbians. So many lesbians. I can think of like three straight couples total and one of them is half-dead. They never come out and SAY Nanoha and Fate are married, but they live in the same house, sleep in the same bed, and raise a daughter together which sounds PRETTY MARRIED.

Also there's official art of them in wedding dresses and I think the VAs ship it. So I'm really hoping for an eventual for real canon confirmation where they wear rings or mention it being in official records but. Well.

(oh yes, another thing I just remembered about Nanohaverse - the main messiah figure of the largest (incredibly accepting of everyone) religion, is a disabled woman. She lost her arms in an accident as a child and used prosthetics, and still became a phenomenal warrior and leader. There's some sketchy stuff in the disability politics (a character who is in a wheelchair in season 2 is able to walk again by the third season, though it is mentioned that it took five years of recovery for her, mainly, and a few bits of the aforesaid savior lady) but overall it's nice, I think. And she was probably bi and poly, and the friend of hers who made her prosthetic arms may have been genderfluid or nonbinary or trans(she is called a she and never expresses dysphoria, but she consistently dresses in male clothes and is perfectly fine with a friend thinking that she's a cis male. Which isn't the best representation, I know, but...)

 

oh wow, that sounds really cool, and even the sketchy stuff could be MUCH WORSE
it's closer to good representation than a lot of things!
