So the problem inherent in being an energy demon or something of that sort is basically expressed by "but doesn't that seem dangerous?" and the answer is yes and that's what I was annoyed about. because i've had too many characters that are too dangerous to be able to touch other people and I don't want that kind of character here. solution? i'm going to be a star demon that went, screw this i want hugs i'm going to be human but I'm keeping the cool horns. and became quasi-human through sheer stubbornness and now pretty much all you have to fear from me is freckles. and too many hugs i guess. and hell to pay if you hurt one of my friends. I'm going to go draw me.
Who needs recognizable features? Be the person who everyone knows but only has a vague impression of.
You need arms to have hugs, right? And people get unnerved if you don't have a face. I think. so i have a mouth. and teeth, teeth are important. nose? sure. eyes? let's have a bunch. wait, legs are a thing too, let's have legs. Okay let's do this. shit i forgot ears. oh well. #honestly i'm lucky i look humanoid at all
Snitch's approach to "crud, have to socially interact with humanoids" is basically like the alien from Men In Black, somehow compress something like two tonnes of tentacle monster into a human-ish form that doesn't bend in the right places and occasionally morphs a bunch of tentacles. But honestly it's cramped and people keep complaining about leaving footprints in the concrete from the vast pressures exerted by me walking on two humanoid legs, so tentacle beast it usually is.
So I have hands and fingers toes too what's a mouth? You forgot ears so I'll have some ears. and hair is pretty and means I can be petted wait humans have eyes right. oops
I wonder what sort of creatures are common in the Galaxy at large. And by wonder, just say the word and I'll start babbling.
Void says they are common cuz they are everywhere. Everyone sighs and says that is not what they mean.
RIGHTY THEN. Humanity, while they aren't exactly newcomers to the galactic scene, are still fairly new to the whole "we now live in space" game, and the Kintsystem is on the outer fringes of the Terran Extrasolar Protectorate, and while the Kintsystem is of possible immense value to the Protectorate, an arcane system of defenses out in the system's Oort Cloud prevent all but the smallest of ships from slipping through, along with a malfunctioning Transport Gate that some suspect is some sort of prototype left by the predecessors, used later by another old civilisation to build the various Transport Gates scattered through the known galaxy. Humans are known for being tenacious, daring and for becoming big names on the galactic scene not long out of their species's spacefaring infancy. The Protectorate tend to use the more mundane science to run their worlds, rather than the more esoteric and unpredictable magic available to them. There are probably various mildly transhuman subspecies of humanity, along with possibly some other species uplifted by humans for the purposes of having more friends to play with. I suppose we'd also want a reasonably-humanoid (maybe more arms?) race of creatures that use magitek to run giant spaceships made of trees or something (oh hey, maybe Void could be some Space Elf Equivalent. That seems fairly amusing, giant teddybear monster "space elves") There's whatever anons and/or snitchanon are, some sort of tentacled thingies. Snitch, at least, is around the size of a small truck when coiled up, possibly larger and more individualistic than the typical Anon. There seem to be various kinds of "demon", from burning creatures that maybe typically dwell on the surfaces of stars, to some other types of creature. Feel free to write up a short treatise on what your 'sona's species is. I kinda wrote in a loophole for your cat-eared people and the like for being some modified version of humanity, but I don't think we're going for hard sci-fi here.
I think both @Bel Capricorn's and my sonas are like- they're demons, but it's more star trek style hyper-evolution we don't need bodies type stuff? hence the "yes, arms, i have arms because hugs are nice wait oh right human beings make sound with mouths, not just by resonating the air around them" and yet we can still eat cookies.
@emythos =D I will be the prettiest sentient mushroom. I saw some purple mushrooms while walking to uni today! From the top they looked like plums. Maybe I can be a sentient mushroom with a plum coloured skirt. Ooh! Or with a netted skirt like this: Spoiler: A mushroom with Phallus in its scientific name [ /SPOILER] Or both... *quietly spergs about mushrooms in the corner*
Also @Snitchanon I love everything you are posting right now. I will try to right a thing about the Sentient Mushroom Planet.
Short Explanation of me, can be used by anyone who fits in it: There is a species with the same relation to cats as humans have to apes, and Cody happened when a possibly mad scientist mixed up that species DNA with a humans and then added some narrativium to make it work.
bleep bloop, android trying to decide if I started out human and then majored in tech, which kind of had the requirement at my chosen area of learning to get cyborg additions, and then at some point just said fuck it, built an android body, and downloade my consciousness into it or actually that first one sounds good enough that I don't even need a choice But, yeah, started out as human, went through collegiate process, and during the course of mechanobiopsychology, eventually figured that constantly upgrading for each course cost way more money & stress trying to keep bone & tissue functioning. Built an android, downloaded into android, graduated. of course, since Moss is an android, this means they sometimes react weirdly to stressful and emotional situations because sometimes the mirror neuron imitation circuits malfunction when amped up. (yet again I create a character that explains me better than I do)
I'm starting to think Laz might have come from just one of the species living in the Kintsystem. Maybe its possessiveness of certain sites is because its intended to be a guardian for the sites on the moon Kintsugi-colony is on, and there are other less friendly ones at the barrows on other moons/planets. The whole species was made for that. Laz's magitech might have malfunctioned, which is why it's friendlier and remembers some things about before the others all "left." It isn't exactly a wealth of knowledge, but it can read the old writing and sometimes recognizes certain items.
