Because nostalgia, and because if anyone ever actually re-reads it or wants to talk about the books I am 100% always down for that

Fun facts, my fursona is a modified version of my original warriors OC, who influenced all my usernames since. I was Amberstripe.

    Warriors: Chronological List
Warning: If you have not read warriors before and seek to read it chronologically, you will read spoilers for things treated as mysteries in later books before they happen. A Chronological reading order is not suggested by me for first-time warriors readers: until the time I make an actual recommended reading order, I would recommend just starting with the first published series, sometimes called The Prophecies Begin, whose first book is Into the Wild

    Dawn of the Clans Begins

    The Sun Trail

    Thunder Rising

    The First Battle

    The Blazing Star

    A Forest Divided

    Path of Stars

    Tallstar’s Revenge*

    Crookedstar’s Promise*

    Bluestar’s Prophecy*

    The Rise of Scourge**

    Yellowfang’s Secret*

(*these four all overlap and end at approximately the beginning of Into the Wild, they are listed in approximate order of their beginnings)

(**The Rise of Scourge begins in the middle of Bluestar’s Prophecy’s timeline and continues until the middle of The Darkest hour)

    The Prophecies Begin series begins

    Into The Wild

    Fire and Ice

    Forest of Secrets

    Rising Storm***

    Tigerclaw’s Fury***

(*** these two occur at the same time)

    A Dangerous Path

Tigerstar & Sasha Manga Trilogy (starts ~during A Dangerous Path, continues until slightly before Midnight)

    The Darkest Hour

    Ravenpaw’s Path Manga Trilogy

    Firestar’s Quest

    The New Prophecy Series Begins

    Midnight

question: if i were to catch up, should i reread the series in order that they came out, or would it be okay to start chronologically? the "beginning of the clans" series looks hella interesting and i haven't read it.

Excellent. I mean, I still have a fanfic au for the end of the power of three where all of shadowclan and thunderclap are wiped out within like four chapters. Dark & edgy was the young warriors fan thing (I mean, Bloodclan is the most dark & edgy thing and it's canon)

Lol my current fursona is basically just my first Warriors OC/sona but as a bat.

also *solidarity fistbump* All of my online pseudonyms are derived from my days in the Warriors guild. I was Blazeheart, which then became Blaze/Blazey. I also go by Jas a lot, which was a nickname given to me by a friend in the fandom. And Ragingheart was the name of a character I played for a bit.

... I am such Warriors Trash, though

For all of y'all that RPed Warriors, what were your clans like? :U

The Guild I was part of originally just had LightningClan and NightClan, but then later had TempestClan and IslandClan added!

Dawn of the Clans doesn't require much, if any, context from the rest of the series to be enjoyed, feel free to go for it right away if you want! I really enjoyed it as a series, tho it's def not perfect c| warriors continues its fridging problem infinitely

Definitely got to read the first four series in order to fully understand stuff (tho the skipping a generation thing helps in 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 since the kids don't know about the events of the last series so stuff gets explained shortly here and there), and the sixth series is chronologically after Bramblestar's Storm, which is after the end of the fourth series, so those are best read in order
(I can make a full chronology list at some point if you want, with all the super editions and novellas (and maybe even those darn mangas) in chrono order)

..ok to be fair blaze was a common warriors name but that sounds familiar. Were you ever on the Warriors Wish forum?

My original clans were pretty clear canon clan rip offs, willowclan and StreamClan were exact thunderclan and riverclan. Mountainclan was in mountains instead of a moor, I think we made them before we found the second series (or before it came out, I was into warriors pretty early), and I remember nothing about fireclan, except that they were the eeeevil claaan

Sweet!!! Feel free to live blog at me or here, I love hearing people's reactions.
I'll get a list up sometime soon! Probably tonight (as in like 12-14 hours from now, yay time zones)

i know there was one fan on tumblr who had a lot of the warriors books online for free if anyone would want me to dig that up again if I can; I unfollowed the person because they were a bit too intense about being sandstorm kin but the resource is handy xD

Dude, when I first started roleplaying, I was literally still in the hunt-and-peck phase of typing. But I kept getting left behind in plots and stuff when the RP was moving really fast, so... not shitting you, I owe my current typing speed at least in part to Warriors. |P

To be fair, the books themselves were pretty dark so I think it was just... taken a step further by the fandom. I mean, the canon books had a cat get graphically disemboweled so badly that not even magic healing could fix it, that shit's pretty dark.

I don't thiiiiiiink so? If I was, it was only briefly. Mostly I limited myself to just posting on Neopets guilds/chatrooms, because chatrooms were Forbidden so I had to be really sneaky about everything, which meant limiting forum use.

Lol, all of my clans were pretty obvious ripoffs too. I mean. LightningClan. Can't get much more obvious than that.

Very true! I do some warriors animation collab stuff (it's a big thing for the fandom, it's weird but hella fun) and had to animate a bit of that myself recently and since there's like, 13 year olds everywhere in the fandom it's hard to decide what level of guro you're ok with drawing (in the end I was too lazy to animate blood lol, my part was really late for the due date)

I'm always surprised when I look back on my early warriors days, cause I realize I was talking with complete strangers from the age of 10. I'm like, alarmed for myself in hindsight

my pals and i would flarp warriors. our clan was stream clan. i was the medicine cat. we were inner city clan, and hunted mainly in the ditches and public parks. stayed away from humans for the most part.

i made special warrior cat names for all of my actual cats.

    it was fun ^^

    blue hightown funk you up

    (appears) HELLO

me and my best friend were so into warriors that we created a Completely Original (tm) book setting with winged cats and wrote part of a couple of novels in it. we had a spreadsheet of all the "prides" and every cat and their wing color and fur color and whenever a cat was introduced we would say both. it was really silly and very fun.

Warriors rp was legit just such a fun time. The setup of clans in warriors is so conductive to infinite conflict setups and a great jumping point for ocs and original clans & plots. I've seen some modern rp forums with really creative & cool original clans and clan relations.

I used to have a big like 18x24 pad of paper that I would make a grid of every character from my oc clans in, with age and relations and a little drawing of each one

the library doesn't have any books in the series I haven't read.
    *falls to the floor*
    Why this

Can you/are you willing to reserve books? Usually last I checked there's still some level of a reserve line in libraries for the books that are more recent, the series is still popular with the childrens

I do find them to be really fun, easy to focus on reads! I've been slowly getting back into reading as well, reread the whole series a bit over a year ago myself
The first series especially, the books are way more fast paced than I remember them being when I was a kid, really quick to read through

...maybe I'll reread the series again this summer

yeah, that is a major upside to the Warriors books. it's also part of why I stopped buying them; it seemed like a waste to spend 20 bucks on a book that I'd finish in an afternoon
