So a thing came up in the fictionkin thread that reminded me of something I really like. Namely possession and channeling. It's just a really cool thing I think? I have ever since I was a kid who read Shaman King really. Just the idea of some otherworldly being using you for some purpose. To say or do a thing. The idea of it being done for creative purposes I really like too? Like you were the pen and paper of this god.

There's traditions of this sort of thing in Buddhism. As like a positive thing though also possibly harmful. There isn't explicitly one with the Gaelic thing, though that is how some interpret the whole imbas forosnai thing. It's not how I personally interpret it exactly? But it is a thing I know happens interpretation wise.

Any of the rest of you have traditions of possession and channeling or thoughts on it?

as far as channeling goes...sure, why not? I think channeling is pretty cool, if we're talking about the same thing.

 

Hrmmm. Trying to think of how to clarify on how I view it. Like part of imbas forosnai is, I think, actually being used by a god as a medium. They are speaking and acting through you in some cases. So literally this god says a thing and you say the same thing at the same time because they are borrowing you for a bit. However at the same time I don't feel that it is exclusively that. In other cases or even at the same time it is the god revealing a truth and you struggling to represent that truth. They are the words of gods beyond the comprehension of unenlightened man and you are trying hastily to capture that in a furious frenzy of poetry. However in both cases it involves the touch of a god and in both cases imbas forosnai is Truth. With a capital T. It is TRUTH, sacred and honorable and just. Perhaps there are other truths that can combat this truth and perhaps they are both valid. That does not make this Truth any less just though.

It is like a kingly mandate. Regal and bearing the virtues of a true king.

 

Wanted to memorialize Orlando in some way, and it looks like I'm not the only one. Some of the first things I saw in the "sigil" tag were specifically noted to be about that. Gonna put this "Peace from hate" one on a candle.

 

A while ago I sort of considered Tyr might be a deity with an interest in me, and I guess he's still around, because upon opening a bag of runestones I got a while ago (but hadn't looked at yet) and sticking my hand in to pull one out... it was the tyr rune.

Oh, I did notice that the moon was full around the solstice! Too busy feeling unwell to do anything, unfortunately.

I was able to see just a sliver of bright orangey pink moon before an impressive storm hit. It was awesome, even if it did almost blow my tiny car off the road
