Google says it's an American anime? That's consistent with the screenshots I've seen. It must have started airing recently. No affiliation with transformers afaik, so probably just an intercepting interest!
The original Voltron and the original Transformers were from roughly the same era of "shows made of recycled Japanese stuff to sell toys to kids" and were trying to hit the same market, so there's a lot of similarity in the toy/mech designs.
Yeah, the 80s were fucking weird. Transformers shouldn't have worked. Voltron shouldn't have worked. Robotech shouldn't have worked. And yet. On the other hand, considering what passed for children's television during the 20-aughts, apparently kids will watch just about anything.
And Super Sentai aka Power Rangers, where they reuse the costumes and fight footage but make different storylines with differemt actors.. that's still going strong!

It minicomic at the end of 50 was a flashforward with Getaway looking back. The only characters confirmed to survive are him, so far.

Hmm Spoiler: Death predictions Confirmed to survive Getaway (hissss) Very unlikely to die Rung ( I really don't think he's at any risk of dying before we find out what his altmode is) Nightbeat (is currently with Rung and away from the fighting) Megatron (his arc ending here would be really disappointing) Skids? ( I've always assumed his vision past the space ridge was foreshadowing that he'd be coming back there.) Setting off all my alarms Ravage ( I agree with mizushimo that it would be really easy to fridge him right now) Velocity ( Probably the least developed character on the hero side right now) Not-Tarn not-Nickel members of the DJD ( again, they've had very little character development ) Everyone Else I don't know really. Whirl, Swerve and Cyclonus have all got really bad self-sacrificial tendencies, although Whirl at least has been less suicidal lately and I would be really annoyed if he fell back into that here. If Tailgate dies, I don't think Cyclonus will outlive him - not sure about the other way around. Rewind is probably safe because he's spent so much time dead already, and that makes me hope that Chromedome will also survive because splitting them up again Is just sadistic. I'm worried about Ultra Magnus - most of the plot points concerning him have been resolved and he is a very big target right now. Rodimus is also ringing alarm bells right now but I couldn't exactly say why. Overlord permadying is probably too much to hope for.
Spoiler: 54 death speculation i don't think rodimus, cyclonus, tailgate, rewind, chromedome, nautica, velocity, or rung will die. i think rodimus is safe because of the whole... vision thing that drift had? it has to be rodimus or the whole thing's ruined. and he still has a lot of growing to do. i'd be really shocked and fucking DEVASTATED if he died. cyclonus has almost-died so many times that it's just. i dunno, i don't think they'll do it. tailgate already almost-died, and now he's nigh indestructible, and there's also the whole romance thing going on, and killing either of them would just be a Bad Move that i don't see roberts making. rewind and chromedome both have a LOT to work through still. it wouldn't make any sense to kill either of them. nautica is safe. she's the only developed female character, they're not stupid enough to kill her. same with velocity. killing off one of only 2 female characters just plain Looks Bad. rung is CENTRAL to the plot. he always has been. roberts has PLANS for him, and there's no fucking way he's gonna die like this. i am LESS confident but still hopeful in saying that i don't think whirl will die. he's been improving a lot lately and getting more development. also, if he dies, so will i, so like. i got a lot riding on this. don't fucking let me down roberts i tentatively think ratchet and drift will both be okay? like we just got them back, it would be a huge waste to kill either of them now. i think drift is safer than ratchet tbh. ratchet i could see doing something self-sacrificing and ridiculous. that said: DO NOT KILL RATCHET. Edit: yknow what i got that backwards, drift would do something self-sacrificing and ridiculous. but RATCHET would make more sense to kill, thematically. either way: DON'T if brainstorm dies i will weep for a billion years, but i don't think he's Safe like the other ones. don't kill my awful son, roberts. do not. i could see skids dying. i would STRONGLY prefer that he did not, but it wouldn't be outrageous, narratively speaking. same with ravage. nightbeat..... i don't THINK he'll die, unless it's related to his mystery. i still feel like he's got a purpose to serve. i don't know about swerve!!! i am drawing a blank. i can't think of a reason that he would die, but i also can't think of a compelling reason why he NEEDS to stay alive, plot-wise. please do not kill the minibot. for that matter don't kill ten, ten is important magnus...... don't fuckin kill magnus, man. don't do that. c'mon. don't fuckin do that. i can't think of a reason that he NEEDS to stay alive, which is. not good. and then there's megatron. he has plot armour times a billion because he's fucking megatron, but if someone NEEDS to die in this arc, i say let it be the Bad Dad. let him go out doing something entirely selfless for once in his life. let him help rodimus grow as a person, i don't know, but. it's unlikely, but i think megatron's death would make sense for me. *jazz hands*
I don't know what's going to happen, but I don't know if my heart can take any deaths, really. except like. Getaway and Overlord, I'm fine with that
