in conclusion: Getaway is too hot to be so bad you know what really really drove rodimus's issue with deferring to authority almost immediately without thinking home to me? Spoiler: mtmte 54 he calls Megatron captain, salutes him and immediately implicitly assumes position below him in the command chain witht he phrase "Your crew reporting for duty". He hands command off to the guy he once called his nemesis, without so much as a second thought, after months of insisting on them being equals, of correcting Megs when he calls himself captain. They are not "Co"-Captains in this moment. They are a captain and his second-in-command. Yes, Rodimus does try to argue with him on being ordered to retreat, but the fact that he immediately places Megatron above himself in the command structure when things get serious, actually even tries to argue Megs into taking command when he doesn't want to... it speaks volumes of just how insecure Rodimus is about his own abilities as a commander.
I imagine, if we ever get a pingback to the LL, we might find out more about the reasons behind Getaway's torture. I wouldn't honestly put it past Atomizer to try suggesting further extremes, because he was already cahoots member number two (unless he was found out, which seems unlikely-- Tailgate and Cyclonus only knew about Getaway directly, and I think Whirl had his brain wiped of the entire conspiracy) and... there's the nudge gun still. The trembler cage, I think, is the biggest moral failing. Hands, legs, tcog, and mouth might have a reasonable explanation, despite their extremes (they don't have hundreds of Legislators to keep Getaway secure, for one, so his escape artistry is definitely more of an immediate threat) but I can't see the justification on the trembler cage.
I'm suddenly in need of one-sided Atomizer/Getaway shipfic, where Atomizer is certain that they have A Thing, but Getaway is just playing him and really, he wouldn't even need to, since Atomizer's already invested in their schemes, but it's like...insurance, I guess? something to keep him from backing out
Though with the benefit of hindsight, I'm wondering whether Atomizer was just that bad at playing it cool, or if he and Getaway planned to make as dramatic a thing of Getaway's capture as possible so that Ultra Magnus would assume that was it, the plot was just isolated to Getaway and Atomizer, and never look further. Thus conveniently redirecting attention away from the other mutineers waiting in the wings to bust them out Edit I mean look at that panel layout. Atomizer is huge, almost front and center. Getaway is almost entirely eclipsed by Ultra Magnus. "All taken care of." Atomizer made himself as big a target as he could manage on purpose

if it didn't sometimes make words, i'd agree! but the fact that there are any words that make sense, particularly trailcutter calling vos a dick, suggests that they're at least using it sometimes, if only for giggles.
or sometimes Jro gives "This is what I want it to say" to the letterer and sometimes he doesn't? That or Vos like trolling others that think they speak it.
Vos is the cybertronian version of those youtube videos about what languages sound like to non-speakers.
Spoiler: mtmte 54 I noticed that too! While it certainly could mean that Rodimus is very insecure. The way I see it, a deadly combo of Megs raw charisma and titanic action impressed Rodimus so much that he was just like- "Wow, ok, obviously you are in charge of this now. What are your orders captain!" Rodimus loves big gestures and he's very susceptible (like many cybertronians) to the power of personality. Megatron and Optimus Prime are supposed to be at the top of the pyramid of robot charisma for their entire species, there's no way he wouldn't be awestruck by Megatron successfully taking on the entire mob that had been kicking his friends asses moments ago. Rodimus was extremely upset when Megatron wouldn't fight with them, he needed the one of the greatest warriors in history to help them all survive. He must have been so relieved when Megs FINALLY showed up, blasting his fusion canon like a champion. Megatron charged in and saved the day like a the true hero, and Rodimus was so affected that he didn't even think about resenting him for it. I love Rodimus to pieces, but deep down, he knows when he's been outclassed. When the dust settles, I don't think Roddy will continue to see himself as Megs subordinate. It really felt like he got caught up in the moment. I hope all the Megarod ficcers out seize this opportunity to write some awestruck Rodimus dealing with his massively heroic BF. You're right, I bet that was their plan. Getaway is a very crafty character and it makes sense that keeping those co-conspirators secret would have been one of his top priorities.
...yes. and they can still nuzzle if not kisses. I know Whirl/Rung will never be canon but alas. I will settle for Cygate kisses and Megarod kisses. and maybe some Magnus/Swerve kisses
